Tis the end of a long but good day, lots accomplished with getting ready for winter. Off to Chicago in the AM for the "Jersey Boys" at the Cadillac Theatre and the the Shedd Aquarium, and hopefully some shopping on the Magnificent Mile. It's hard to beat Chicago at this time of year, hope the wind chill isn't -90

Turnips ready. Think we are having SOUTHERN fried chicken to go with turnips. I'm sure all the Yankees are jealous as they don't have turnips and turnip greens. bounce7 much especially SOUTHERN fried chicken. [or they would not admit it]

New Years Eve my Scots family will be enjoying 'Haggis and Neeps (turnips)' at midnight, it will be paraded into the gatheringahead of a piper in full rig, and washed down with copious amounts of Single Malt.aussie Sad to say yet another Hogmanay away from my family:cry:.
Any one else tried the Kalmbach site this AM? Down again.

Great shots indeed! I'm happy for that rain in the south. Just overheard the youngest (5 yrs old) very appropriately use the expression 'son of a bxxxx' he learned from his most recent watching of A Christmas Story... After my correction, I'm sure I'll next hear him say this someplace "appropriate " - like church. Sigh. ;)
We have friends with a 5-yo at the time said 'S...' as he kicked the tire of his little tikes car that was stuck in the yard. Good thing he heard it from his Dad. Can't wait for our drama to start.

Good Morning............
It is cloudy and 34 degrees. Going up to a partly sunny 44, today.
Busy day today. A couple of errands to run and then some household chores to do. Maybe some train running later.
Glad to see you back, Jeff.

Good morning folks

It was 53 F and very windy as I headed out for work this morning. According to the weather mis-forecasters we have reached our high for the day. It was pretty windy overnight and I found some big branches all over the front yard and some of the Christmas decorations were blown over.

No modeling again last night. I am still wrestling with this cold and cough I came down with. I don’t have much energy. I spent the evening bringing down bins from the attic filled with Christmas decorations. I also had to spend some time on Cub Scout stuff getting ready for our pack meeting tomorrow night. Tonight I doubt anything will happen as I have to attend a public meeting on one of our projects. At least this one is in an area I know and should not take two hours to get to.

I hope everybody has a good day.

G'morning from a sunny and cold Chicago where I am just not feeling well all of a sudden - maybe I'm allergic to the office or just coming down with something. Worked on the layout last eve. Got a second main line down around the perimeter - I missed running trains/trolleys in tandem or going opposite ways. Now looking at the yard. Have to find instructions for 5121/22 switch wiring. Welcome back, Jeff. Feel better, Tom. Jon, give me a shout if you need anything whilst in town. All the more reason to stay with tubular, Buckeye. Got a 'France trip' meeting with the daughter tonight - she goes to France in the Spring. I pay for it.

Good morning, Y'all!
Jeff, glad you are back and hope for a speedy recovery.
Got to get packed for Texas tonight as the next two days will be busy for the movie. Lots of work, but it's all good. Anyway, if I don't get a chance to check back before I leave, hope everyone has a great rest of the week.
God Bless,
dennis

Brutus, Yes we are getting there. Still a little way to go yet. Got second coat of paint on tonight. Picked up 18 MR16 12v spotlamps for the gamesroom today plus two more for the shower/toilet. Don't ask how much they cost... They have to be fire resistant as they penetrate the ceiling. This is new regulation over here covering new builds (which is what the garage and gamesroom come under).
Just found a source of Spangler candy canes over here:thumb:. Ordered some for the tree and some to send to M&D. Without American candy canes its just not Christmas.:)

Egg Nog sounds good Chief

Afternoon all!

Just got back from my annual jury duty. When the criminals heard I was in the potential jury pool, they all pleaded out and we got to leave at 10:30 am.

Bright and sunny here with a high of 65 predicted. Nice!

Have a great afternoon all!

Jeffrey - Glad you're feeling up to posting.
Doug - sorry you're feeling poorly today.
Chief - watch the eggnog! More calories than your breakfast sandwich - I think the mustard and coffee was the healthiest thing on your menu! (Dennis, am I right, or am I right?)
Roy - we need more jurors like you! :thumb:

Sunny and cool in central Alabama today. Current temp is 58 degrees. Still need more rain.

Hope to at least get started on Christmas layout this weekend. I've got a lot going on Friday evening and Saturday, so it will be hit and miss at best. Maybe get track down and wired. At least the benchwork is done!

You are correct Dr. John. But I must confess that Egg Nog is one of my weaknesses too. Hard to find really good stuff too.

Getting packed for Texas. I checked the weather and it looks like 40s to 60s which is my kind of hunting weather. When I opened my gear up WOAH! Seems I had left a few bottles of doe estrus in the bag when I got back from Canada hunt. I may have to wear some of that gear and Oh Boy!, I had better stay up a stand before some buck comes thinking I'm his sweetheart.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Chief. I am looking forward to this trip, even though it is at a bad time. Lots to do with the movie, plus plenty of honey dos to do for the Christmas time guests. It will be good to get away for a little while.

Have a great week Y'all!

I have this engine made by lionel (sorry chief its not a southern) Chessie system B&O number 3849 . I can't find any info on this engine it does state built by lionel 2001 on the shell. I'm wondering if this might have been a special run for somethin like TCA or Lionel collectors club or something I got it in an auction back some time ago.
