Good evening everyone,

Welcome Kevin!!! That is a beautiful picture. I am a big fan of scenery photos and that is one of the best ones I have ever seen.

It was another relaxing day here. I woke up around 10 (which is late for me) and then I did pretty much nothing. I went over my grandpops later and helped him with the leaves in his yard. He has a lot, but luckily the township picks up the leaves so I only had to blow them to the curb. I still have to take some photos of the Christmas lights, so I better get around to that.

Have a good evening everyone.

Evening all. Still cold and damp. Went to lease a little after dark. 7 girls waiting and walked off. Went ot the pond and put out corn and then back to the pipe at entrance [where they were standing in the woods watching]. Put out corn and before I could drive off they ahd run out and started eating. They shy away as the truck gets close but then don't run as I roll down window and give them my special whistle. They have now learned to recognize that as food. Little kid 4 years old came by today. Living with his Grandparents [Mom and Dad are druggies and they don't evven know where Mom is]. They are a lot older than me and retired. Kid loves trains. sleeps with his wooden Thomas at night. Had DVD's of trains and watches them all the time. His Greatuncle gave him an HO set and they can't get it to work. Gave him my old track and a starter set engine and tender along with a lighted lockon and an old 1043. Told them to put it together on the floor and how to hook it up. Hope it runs for the kid. Tuesday, I will round up some old cars and and get him some more track. Kid needs help. Sad.

Surprised Buckeye has not posted. May not be able too as we just cut him aloose from the ant hill. Will teach him to stay out of the mountains of NC.

Have a great evening.

Hurdling a monumental milestone, having fully connected the inner loop, ran the Jersey Central 621 around the inner loop. Had a problem with the auto feature on one switch on a reversing loop, so had to throw that manually each time the engine entered the loop.

Added the New Haven 2350 to the outer loop and ran these at a crawl for dozens of laps. All clearances were good and I spoted a few areas in need of smoothing out, but all ran great.

Fired up the Santa Fe and New York Central on the upper level and had four trains running continuously.

It was pretty sweet . . .

no movies yet - too much to keep an eye on for film - yet.

A great 4 days with FANTASTIC foods and lots of laughs with the family. Our granddaughter had a wonderful time with Thomas, just running a simple oval seems to work perfectly.

Tough day for one Iowa family yesterday. They buried their son who was killed by an IED in Afgahnistan two weeks ago. The morons from Kansas showed up (Westboro Baptist Church) but thanks to our Governor they have to stay 300 feet away. The now have loudspeakers that they use and and the sound does carry. Fortunately the Patriot Guard Riders were there (of which I am one) and shielded the family from these low life's.

Christmas tree will go up this week and a new layout is in the works this year, think I will use one of Thor's plans. Simple is good :)

Sure fun to read about everyone's Thanksgiving. Thanks to everyone for posting.

That's a great thing you guys do!!! I have no ties to any of the wars, but I'm still an American Citizen... and we do appreciate it!!

Evening all!

Lots o' rain here last night and today. We got over an inch at my house. High about 43. Low tonight about 38.

Cleaning up the trainroom this afternoon and evening. A lot of stuff has piled up over the course of several years and an 8x12 island can shield a lot of stuff! Anyway, it is a lot cleaner under there. Now I have to figure out where to put some of the stuff away. Some is easy since the old club layout is gone, I had a lot of the scale stuff out that I can pack away for a while. Since the original boxes are in the closet, putting the trains away means less space is being taken by them!

Daughter got stopped for running a stop sign today. The local policeman was real nice to her. She just missed seeing the sign. She was not speeding or talking on the phone. She had signaled some turns, etc., so he let her go with a short lecture and a call to us while he had her stopped to explain what he did. We have a great police dept here. We did place her on restricted driving privaledges the next 3 days.

Jon - thanks for doing what you did for that family!

Frank - congrats on the new layout loop operating!

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Regards,
Roy

God bless, Jon - that bunch is really testing the limits of free speech. Glad you helped thwart them, again!

Got to test run my Christmas Present (shhhhhh - I might "forget" to bring it back upstairs to be wrapped...

Nice ideas for the motion-detector camera - mailbox was still here this am. Though the middle boy scared someone off by flipping on his lights at 2 am. Sigh.

Beautiful, Jim! I think that train definitely needs to stay out of the box.

Roy, I am glad the police were so understanding. Am petrified - bride agreed to let daughter drive 2-day-old car to H.S. - not worried about the driving - but the parking lot... ;)

Almost forgot to mention - well done, Chief. That youngster will sure appreciate the larger size of the engine and a few cars.

CNW --- I know what you are thinking about the 2 day old vehicle..... I "found" the first door ding on our Mustang when she was about 8 weeks old -- less than 800 miles on her... wall1wall1wall1

The "wife" couldn't comprehend how I could get so upset about a "small nick" :) All I saw was a 1/2"long DIVOT!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Good evening,

Doug, I never lost a mailbox, but had quite a few smashed in the 40+ years we have lived here. The deliquents like to drive down the road in the middle of the night and smash the mail boxes with a baseball bat or piece of pipe. Great sport! wall1

:welcome1: to the coffee pot Kevin. Great sunset picture.

Frank, Nice looking progress on the layout.

Brutus, You are going to love that 4-6-0. Mine is one of my best running engines. Is that the Christmas Layout?

Speaking of engines, I took the MTH 2-8-0 off of the christmas train. There is a problem with the pilot truck derailing on facing point switches, I have two of these on the main line, one MTH and one Atlas, and that engine derails on both, everything else has no problem. Will have to check it out on the bench when time permits. Probably after the holidays.

Ngauger - I kept "complaining" about all the dings on our old van - from where my wife would hit the side of it with the door of her car when she was getting out! Well, when we traded it in, the guys thought somebody did it on purpose and really made a big deal about it. I think she was really chagrined then - she started parking at an angle and being really careful with the next van!

Roy - I too am glad they let your daughter go and most importantly that they followed up to you. One without the other would not be good in the long run. Now the family can deal with it and learning is achieved!

John - this will be the Christmas layout in a short time! I need to decide what to do for snow though - last year I used some white fluffy stuff and I think if I stick with the fastrack from my sets that it will work fine. Plus, now I also have a loop of Realtrax. I will add a wing on one side of the table to widen out the outer loop so I have have the HWX and the new AT&SF 19th C going at the same time as the BFOC - should be cool! A small tree can go up through the center of the BFOC loop in time and some fake presents in the middle??? Maybe have a tunnel through a pile of boxes?

Oh Mannn That must have been rough on her.... :( I can see that though.. Those guys sell you "used" vehicles and they always downplay the imperfections... When you try to sell it to them though.. All those imperfections mean something "all of a sudden":confused::confused::confused:

Evening all - Lots of news going on today.

Jon - One more appreciative person for what your group does!!!!!

Chief - Helping youngsters like you did, I'm sure you got as much if not more pleasure from that then he did. Another of the many many instances of where "Model Railroaders" help the less fortunate. Makes you wonder what the BIG layout in sky must be like with so many model railroaders there.

Roy - Do you ever think back, now when I was her age, and the things I did, how does that compare? I know many times I have thought that and was quite thankful I wasn't raising me. I guess that's why we are all so concerned and careful regarding our kids, is that we KNOW what can happen. If only we could download some of that information.

Kevin - That is one great picture!

John - I think you need to send that engine to Calif. for extended testing. I mean with your busy schedule and all, it just would be so stressful to have to antaganize over that. So, being a friend and all, I would be more than happy to relieve you of that task. After all it IS Christmas Time.

On the home front got the outside decorations all up, AND they WORK ! Today had to work till 2 pm, but got home and not worth a darn the rest of the day. Just relaxed!

Evening all,
Best wishes to all

Brutus, If you use Realtrax without fastening it down, be sure to use the locking clips that MTH sells separately. I also recomend the anti-corrosion paste on the contacts.

Good night to a great group of guys. Seems everyone is busy with some sort of "project." Doug M, just go to BPS or Cabela's and get one of those game cameras. Will catch them everytime. Jon E., need my sniper skills to handle the "good" guys. :curse::twisted: Some times that is really what should happen [and years ago it did happen]. Now you have to apologize to everyone for everything.

Morning!

I leave for a few days and I miss 6-pages???

Been working on the Christmas layout, and visiting friends. Rough wiring done, ready to build outer finish 1/8" plywood trim, and install inclines. Caught 3-yo up on the layout foam...I guess it's pretty sturdy! Bride approved SuperStreets loop for the Birney, and wants me to add a couple of switches. I'm not sure they'll fit, nor do I want to spend the $$ this year.

Looks I have some catch-up reading to do. Hope everyone is well.

Kurt

Good Morning..........
It's a cold, rainy 48 degrees. Going up to a rainy 54 degrees.
Today is a good day to stay indoors and run trains. I think I will relax and do just that. We may have some company, later, Niece and son.
Everybody have a nice day,
Chuck

Good morning folks

It is 41 F and raining here in the Delaware Valley. It is supposed to rain all day and the high will be around 54 F.

We continued with the Christmas decorating. The outside of the house is about 95% done. I still have some stars to hang from the tree. On our shopping excursion yesterday we visited my wife’s favorite clothing store which is next Mitchell’s Hobbies. I walked around the store giving some hints for Christmas.

Unfortunately I got no modeling done at all. I thought I would have a chance but it just never materialized.

I hope everybody has a good day.
