Cookie monster...cookie:cool: I want to see the size of the stove!

Evening All,

Its been very cold here today. Did not get time to start painting the walls in the gamesroom.

Mrs Nick12DMC and Charlie wanted to go Christmas tree shopping. Found a nice 7ft pre-lit artificial tree at B&Q. Then got all the Christmas dec's down from the loft and started putting them up. You will pleased to know that Charlie has his Lionel Berk Jnr running around the tree and I have set up the Nutcracker gatemen that arrived too late for last year. We have a nice train including the 2005 & 2006 Holiday cars and the Operating egg nog milk car. We added the 101 Dalmatian operating gondola for some more action[:)].
Just got to find some Spangler candy canes to finish off the tree.....
Have a good afternoon/evening

Good afternoon, all!

Renovo - the young lady to the right in the red sweat pants looks remarkably like my younger daughter. When I first saw the picture I did a double-take! BTW, I hope you have some help eating all those cookies!

Frank - saw the video. Layout's looking good!

I've about decided to proceed with my Christmas layout. I had originally wanted a loop of On30 with 15 inch radius track and an outer loop of O gauge, using Marx O-34 curves, but no dice! I'll go back to an O-27 inner loop for a trolley line and O-34 outer loop for the main. That's the most I can fit on a 36" wide hollow core door and still have some scenery and buildings.

Chilly and windy here today. We're going to fix hamburgers tonight ( a break from left-overs! ) and watch the Alabama - Auburn game.

That is mine, track star, volleyball star and 4.0 student. She has four letters and has not finished her Softmore year.

Good for her! My youngest is also a sophomore (not quite a 4.0, but A-B honor roll) and one of the athletic trainers for the high school. She hopes to get into sports medicine.

It struck me how similar they look. Not identical by any stretch, but similar size and hair anyway.

When I reread my post I just about died. Sometimes my head and fingers don't work so well on the spelling. Great news about your daughter. She wants to be a Supreme Court Justice or a Fighter Pilot.

Doug, my wife is funny - she doesn't really like regular trains but for some reason she does like trolleys. That, plus the Dept. 56 buildings give me some leverage on the Christmas layout.

Next year the eldest daughter gets married, then my son graduates from college in two more years . . .

Maybe a room for a permanent layout? :woot1:

Good news and bad news tonight.

First the good news. Thursday I put a new hard drive in my computer. The old one had been showing signs of being near the end. Used a program called "Acronis True Image 11" to Clone the old hard drive to the new one. Worked great the first time, I highly recomend it. I installed the new HD, ran the clone program, unpluged the power and data cables from the old one and rebooted and it worked just as it is advertised. A side benefit, that I was not expecting, is that startup is much quicker and the whole computer seems to run faster, not sure why as nothing else was changed.

The bad news, I was running trains with two of the grandkids earlier this evening and one of the locos derailed at a switch. After fiddling with it for a while I realized that I no longer have power in one of the blocks. All of the fuses are good and no CB's tripped. Think I may have burned a wire off somewhere or fried a relay, as another block gets it's power form the same Lionel 180w brick, and that one is fine. The CB's in the bricks are usually very fast and normally trip before the 10A fuse blows, so not sure at this point what happened. The switch does not feed the block in question, but rather it is fed through a relay that routes power to the selected track. Will check it out tomorrow, don't feel like crawling under the layout tonight. wall1

The other bad news is that the train that caused the problem was the Christmas train. :eek:ops:

Then the other bad news is that Florida is now leading Florida State 38 to 12 and no hope in sight. hamrhamrhamr

And the final good news, It was a beautiful sunny day here today, in the high 40s but very nice. After we got home from shopping, I just cleaned a few leaves out of the pond and enjoyed the weather.

Guess I rambled on long enough, hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

Doing laundry, nearly done. Caught up on reading. Watched Ocean's 12 and now watching another Dr. Who episode - this one is a little scary. Frank53 - really enjoyed the layout movie and kids think it's great too! Doug, hope you have fun tomorrow working on your friend's layout! Nick, sounds like a great layout to me! John Baker, hope you can head off that cold! John F - good luck on the wiring and debugging the layout. Tomorrow, I plan to test run the new train for a while, then sort of forget that I already have it in the basement and see how that works.... TTFN!

John Baker, They are not worried about what you would do with any photos, but are worried about our local press getting a hand on photos that can be twisted in the story that went with them. We had a little run in with ABC news and some others after one of the tobacco lawyers decided to form a class action suit against some of our folks....was eventually thrown out of court after several million dollars to fight and still the impression left in people's minds....so you see, they are sensitive.

On this home front, had wonderful day without much to be said for the trains. We went shopping and I bought a micro screw driver set and a soldering station from radio shack. The soldering station is a type of digital set that you just punch in the number for the heat that you want. Will use that to do plenty of repair jobs soon. Then, we dropped the kids off at the baby sitter's and my bride and I went to see Beowolf. Good flick. Afterwards, we went to a Japanese restaurant and had some dinner. It was a nice date and now we are home with the kids and hoping to get some sleep.

Take care,
Dennis

Good evening everyone,
I'm flipping back and forth between channels here. My dad, myself, and my friend are watching college football games. It was a really relaxing day here. I reorganized my media center in my room. I moved the Vizio LCD flatscreen over, and then I re-wired the Bose head unit, added the surround sound speakers, including the subwoofer, re wired the DVD player and then put the XBOX360 back in place, with its internet connection. My room is just missing a microwave, oven, toaster, and fridge. Ah, and I cannot forget cable.

Yesterday, I went golfing with my dad and his friends. I was his chaufer (sp?), driving him around in the cart. At the turn, I went inside the club house and never came out. It was sooooo cold and really windy, and I couldn't bear to be out there any longer.

My dad and I raked leaves, moved some Christmas lights over, and watched TV. I washed his car, cleaned the brake dust off the rims, and applied shine to the tires. I fell asleep for a few hours afterwards. I have been really tired lately, which I'm guessing is not a good thing.

Dr. John, I have been thinking of sports medicine as well. If I do end up on that path, my plan is to move to London after college and become a physical therapist for one of the many soccer teams there. I think it would only be for a few years and then I would move back stateside. Other plans include going to school for business to either own a Ferrari dealership, or have a shop that tunes Ferraris.

Renovo I wish I could have been there for all those treats. How old is your daughter? I wish I could be running now, or even be playing soccer. I tore my ACL two months ago yesterday playing my favorite sport, soccer.
