Favorite locos not used by your railroad.

What locos do you wish your favorite railroad had?

With the Erie being my favorite railroad they converted over to the Erie-Lackawanna so many of the newer locos were never available in Erie livery.

I have a couple of EL kato SD-45's that would look great in the old Erie black and yellow and they run great.
Atlas GP-35's are another winner.

With that in mind, here are a few locos I wish I could repaint and decal into my dream team. Nothing too modern

Maybe I'd like a GG1 in CPR colours.

RMweb has a few threads where members have heavily photoshopped (or something) locomotives into colour schemes they never had. Any takers here? Anyone with more time than brains?

The BL-2 would probably been a good loco on the Erie for some of their commuter runs and short line operations in northern New Jersey.

Wish I had a computer program so I could pull up a loco and just click a button to change the paint job.

How about a black and yellow Erie loco with the Santa Fe "Warbonnet" type layout.

I need to find some drawings of locos that I can play with in Paintbrush.

Back 20+ years ago it was common for some of the "cheaper" brands like AHM, Life-Like (pre proto 2000) and Bachmann (pre-spectrum) to paint their products every road name under the sun. It wasn't uncommon to see a steamer lettered for conrail, or a BQ-23-7 lettered in a santa fe warbonnet scheme. I haven't paid attention to that stuff in years, but wonder if that is still the case. It's all marketing. People like the warbonnet scheme and would buy anything painted in the silver and red.

Didn't TomPM make up some fantasy schemes for some of his locomotives?

Train simulators

Hi, i have microsoft train simulator and it has a variety of places you can go to operate different trains, and train types. Like the northeast corridor, BNSF, and Flying scottsman. It doesn't have NPRR though. But i can still download it! I love trains!

Oh yeah, the CNW should have had sharks, too! I'll guess I'll have to settle for the Baldwin Demonstrators wometime in the future:rolleyes:

I'm serious about repainting two Kato SD-45's with the Erie black & yellow scheme.

I used to let my grand daughter run N-scale locos around a test track and her thing was to see how slow they would go. She'd put her face down on the board and watch the locos roll past her eye. She was around 3-years old at the time.

Her favorites were two SD-45's in Great Northern and two in Erie-Lackawanna.

I don't want to mess up my original locos so I need to find a source of body shells. A pair of Atlas GP-35's would be next.

I love NPRR!

:thumb: Hello all you BNSF, Northeast Corridor, and CNW people! I'm here to tell you that when I get my license, I'll work for NPRR. I love NPRR. I love it because I live next to it. It's that railway in that goes from The Gulf of Mexico to The Pacific ocean. This railroad comes thru Austin, where I live, Dallas, Ft.Worth, and alot of other places along the line.

I wish the C&S had received the narrow gauge 2-10-2s that they considered in the 1930s.

More C&O 2-10-4s would have been a great thing! They would have looked great on the NKP's Rocky River trestle.

The South Park should have had Baldwin 4-4-0s...so that I could justify buying one of Precision Scale's new On3 4-4-0s.
