Afternoon guys,
Keith, good to see you here. I had stopped over at CTT this afternoon and it seems that some have started with the cat fighting. That was common on OGR, but a rare thing on CTT. I hope the hotheads find a little time to cool off. While CTT does have a lot of information, with Frank's contribution and others, so does this site.

I had been given a 25Lbs box of Bell wire, I think it is 8-24. My plan is to double the wires inside for use with the Fastrack switch controls. I will also use Buss wiring for the switch power. The layout is really starting to come together. A few hours alone and I should make some good headway.....if the bride can keep the kids away.

Anyway, hope everyone has a blessed weekend.

BUCKEYE, we already sprayed with latex in our AG shop with the doors open at about 40 degrees. Not to bad. But I wouldn't spray during one of those OHIO snow squalls that YUZ GIZ have.:eek::cry:

Good afternoon guys,

I decided not to go to the 2nd HS football playoff, temp here is 39 and will probably be 30 by game end + wind is blowing about 20 mph. Guess what, the wife is going without me! Letting the old man at home. That's what happens when you marry a young gal. :mrgreen: Maybe I will run trains and listen to the game on radio, IN THE WARM.

John F- I hope your wife does not catch cold watching the Football Game. Too cold @ 39 degress & 20 Mph Winds. Dennis, I use to use bell telephone wire as I startedd my first layout [70's] when I was still at Southern Bell. I doubled it. Used red and green as + and black and yellow as -. Am using an old key system block now for accessories. I have punch down tool and so I wire it as a buss. I have several more "blocks" if you want them. Do not know if I have an extra punch down tool or not. I even have a big key sytem backboard with blocks.

Finished my FAT CAT duty. Was fun. Hot though and I was outside and it was turning cold. Had frozen ice packs inside of suit. Was a big fat cat suit [more like Clemson Tigers suit]. Hugged the kids and they got their pictures taken with me. Fat Cats is a special kids account at the State Employees Credit Union. Teaches kids how to save and bank. The ladies [especially one pretty one] at the Roseyville branch talked me into it. [old Indian proverb, every time brave gets in trouble, a set of tiny moccasin tracks are right in front of him :yep:] It was fun. Worked from 3 to 5:15. Was suppose to quit at 5 but kids were still coming by.

Got new Lionel forklift station wired on layout. Getting some rolling stock out of boxes that have never been opened. Getting wires tied up under layout so wife's tubs can be stored under it. This will free up another guess bedroom. The guest bedroom is full of her clothes and shoes. Think she has TOO MANY. This room was where the old carpet layout ran for several years. It is extra large and enough for bed for Youngest and SIL with another for Carter. That is why the rush. It was have it ready by Christmas and now Thanksgiving as they are coming to stay.

Chief, sounds great. I have about 20 remote switches to wire and then I will work on some accessories. The tool you spoke of, is it black and yellow with the spring loaded slot/punch? I used to use one a looong time ago, but I think it is above the mason dixon line. Didn't think my layout was that big, but it does seem to be a lot of work....fun work, but still work.
Glad your stint as a cat worked out. At least it was not in the heat of the summer.

Will try and box them tomorrow and ship. Tool is exactly as you discribed it. Would photo and post but some Yam Dankee stole my digital camera. Loosen screw and rotate it to make it cut the tag end of the wire or the other end just punches it in.

Laz, remember as you smoke your pheasants that it's good to be the king! LOL You getting any running in before school?

Mother-son event at school, so daughter and I went to Culvers and then to LHS (Hobbytown USA) in Arnold. They have a lot of stuff, but no gargraves. Want to try a couple pieces to see how I like it. Did get a piece of grass mat for the Arnoldian Coos. They are like Heeland coos, except they look just like regular cows. Daughter noticed they are not in scale for the barn we bought (it's really S scale at a guess), but hey, just toys. Well, she wants to build a new barn like this one that is in scale! That's my girl!

Frank53 - looks great! I have amassed a small pile of old ceiling tiles in preparation for using some of your examples from your website.

John - no email? John and Chief, I agree totally on the E85! Only prob, when they do switch, I heard it is subidized by our taxes to the toon of $1 per gallon! So they keep the price down by paying for it with taxes, kinda the opposite of regular gasoline??? What's up with that??? YIKES! If you elect me god-emperor, I promise to pave our roads with oil company executives and kick E85 or saw grass or any other kind of combustible fuel into gear!

More, but this is too long already - TTFN!

Thanks alot, that could definetly be a factor. However, this is what I found out today. Went to a neighboring LHS, and they had replacement batteries for $10, (even on sale for $8. So got one and they installed it. But it didn't go well. The original battery connector had a crack and therefor the pin would not stay in place. Ok new battery takes care of that. Wrong, the speaker was still erratic at best. Of course the wire from the magnet to the paper was loose. They tried to solder it to no avail. (magnet side of course) So now looking at-
-Feasible to bond wire w/adhesive? (steel wire, I doubt that the adhesive I have is conductive.)
- See about getting speaker from MTH.
- Just sending it to MTH for warranty.
(Shipping cost probably more than speaker cost).

Control Panel work this weekend.

A lot of varied interests on the Gauge, very refreshing!

Bride off today for the baby shower...75 women. Good thing there's food.

4-hours of blowing leaves yesterday! One more time aught to do it for the year!

Youngest slept til 6:00am two days in a row! I'M STILL UP AT 4:30.
