Cheers Steve, but I finally bit the bullet and spent another couple of hours fiddling around on my laptop and it's touchpad (don't even have the setup to allow me to use a mouse ATM).

Think I finally got what I was after....

Thanks for the input guys.

Paul.

Hi CB

As I said before - I'm wanting to make the bust look like it's made out of Hellstone, and I'm well underway - hoping to do my first build this week.

That said, I'd love to see the tutorial on how it was done, so the link would be appreciated.

Best regards

Paul.

It has been a while are you doing the ceta build yet ?

and have you thought of doing one with this other skin ? it would be cool to have both versions.
I've got a brother that is a Hell boy fan that wood love to have it both ways.

Hi Red & Skulps

Ceta build? Sorry guys - I'm still on with the Alpha build

The new house is chewing my time up like a dog with a new toy. As such, to be honest I'm not going to be able to finish this model to my usual standard.

As such, I'll get it to beta build stage, which should be a slightly refined version of the Alpha I'm on with ATM (see below). I'll reduce the hellstone detail so it's finer, and maybe increase the size of the bust but leave the base.

I wanted to leave the largest plinth size as one peice, but forgot about the tabs. As a result the whole model stands a little smaller than I had originally envisaged - about 8" tall, and some of the build is tantamount to micro surgery wall1 (the nose was a killer!).

So as I said, finer detail, larger bust and a few fixes here and there.

I aim to spray mine with one of the plastikote stone effect sprays and then have a play with colour. Maybe even try to make it look graveyard gray with some mock ivy etc.

As for the 'real' hellboy texture it's a bit out of my league (never could get that link to work), and besides it may not fit with the angular nature of the model. If anyone wants to have a go however let me know and I'll give you a copy of the model to have a play with (I'll even put it on my site so anyone can have a dabble).

Meanwhile I'll try and get the beta ready in the next week or two - just be prepared for a little bit of extra fiddling when you put it together

Best regards

Paul

Hey Paul,

I like it. Maybe reducing the texture so that it's finer will be all it needs? I'd be interested in trying to give him the flesh look but I have no time right now for it. Be happy to help though. :)

I had a thought. Maybe the texture that was shown before showing his hair and facial features isn't suitable for this sharp angular model. What about giving him a more animated look.

It's hard to explain, like more like a cartoon character. Isn't there an animated series of Hellboy? Could we not make him look like that as well as the "Hell rock"??

Just a thought.

Hi Guys

A little pressure is good sometimes - it helps to know that people are waiting - sometimes it's too easy to leave projects unfinished.

The animated look is not a bad idea - perhaps this could be as easy as building it in a combination of red and black card - red for the head/neck and black for the beard/hair peices....

Actually this could turn into a very interesting texturing competition :)

Anyway, I'll try sort the changes out in the next few weeks before I pass it around.

Regards

Paul.

P.S. forgot to put the ears on

P.P.S. Hi bongo - not sure what you're after - if it's a link to the photo just right click and copy the properties of the image - 'tain't finished yet though :)

Good stuff Paul. In the preview pic you posted at the beginning, the hair was lighter than the skin. So it'd be easy to have those in different colours. Maybe add some definition lines and eye brows or something.

This will be a cool model. :)
