Fired? Why?

Sounds like you have some cool projects on the go. I noticed you've removed the Cylon from you sig?

What's the plan for your large Viper? Scaling up one of Jaybats? Or a new model?

Hope that's not true about the '08 release. I think it's really odd about the UK getting it first.

Hey nothing, not fired as far as I'm concerned. I've been real busy the past week and mostly trying to finish off the Liners when I have time to work.
I'm still picking away at the Celestra. I was planning on sending that to skupilkinson and then prepping the cloud 9 for you (since you have experience with that one already) and assuming you want to.

Skupilkinson has uncovered some stuff in the liners and I'm still debating about fixing it now or later. I have already made the PDF's of all 6 color variants, in both regular and large size, so if I fix anything now I've got to redo all that. I'm thinking I'll just finish off the beta instructions, post it all, and do an update in the future.

BTW, I saw in the Whitestar thread you may be working on that. I hope you get permission - I LOVE that ship! I vote for a 12 to 16 inch finished length.

Stay tuned for BSG stuff,

SJ

havnt heard back yet on the white star. though i got permission for a thunderbolt.

as for the cylon i cant get a clean enough mesh to make a kit. i ll still build mine slowly but it will be more scratch build than anything.

id rather have a fixed liner. im going to do at least 3 varients.

not sure yet on galactica for the size im thinking ribs plates and guns.

heres the start of my astral queen.

Astral Queen looks good buddy.

Pity about the Cylon model, I was looking forward to that. :(

6' is very big, it would be as long as a person is tall but even wider!

Regarding the Liners, what I have is more than buildable. They're not so much design flaws, just a matter of tabs being over looked really. It's a matter of adding the tabs by hand which is no biggy. Also you'd have to remember to keep the numbering problem in mind for the support structure. Check my 'Carrier thread for the details I've found so far.

If SJ added a correction document to the model files, everyone could still build the liners without the wait. :) It'll allow SJ to continue with other projects and come back to it later.

The Viper should be fairly big for a cockpit then? I look forward to seeing more on that one. ;)

I'm pretty sure I have a higher poly MkVII. I'll have a look and get back to you via email. I take it you want more detail than a low poly mesh has? Like the mesh from the fleet pack?

Yeah gotcha. Well I remembered right, I have one. Though there's interesection to deal with and some of the parts would be tricky to model in paper unless you scale this thing up to be huge!

I'll email the one from the fleet pack for comparrison too. Later though, give me an hour or so.

It's a fan design by MilleniumFalsehood. He posted a pic on this thread I think of his design for a competition somewhere.

I got in touch and asked if he'd mind me modelling it for a papermodel. He said yes and now I'm just waiting on the plans for it before I start.

It's a great design, similar in some respects to the Defender.

That's the part I'm not looking forward to. I'll have to do them myself.

I'll be trying to replicate the effect of the fleet pack textures, the Apollo is similar to the Big G in the way it has open areas where the ribs are exposed. It'll be tricky and I'll need to learn a few techniques but I'l manage. I'm not ready to start it yet anyway, waiting on the rest of the plans.

My little Contribution

My small contribution to this great effort: two ships of the old series long looked: the Cylon Basestar and to another one the Cylon Fuel Transport is models alpha still needs adjustments but they can easily be build I believe. :thumb:

P.S. The archives of lesser size contain the PDOs that must be used as reference in the construction.

Cheers!

Cool. Thanks. :) I quite like the look of the textures for the Basestar. Looks good.

I never was a fan of the Fuel Tanker though.

Not even downloaded them yet. Try sending a PM to the author Gomidefilho.

This thread is dedicated to ships of the new series. The meshes we're using are all from one ship pack so we'd like to try and keep the thread on topic.

No offense. :)

I'd downloaded the PDO's and had no problem open them on Pepakura, did you use the version 2 of Pepakura?

Great model Gomidefilho, I really like most of new BSG designs, but for the basestar I stay with the old design, way cooler then the new one :)

Thanks for the models.

Thank all you guys for this incredible team work, speeding up the release of BSG models...
