Richard, do you have room to put another table, say 1' wide by 2 or 3' long at the upper or lower corner? That could be your staging/interchange and then put shelves underneath to store cars when you rotate them off the layout.

Yeah, I have plenty of room in a 11x11 spare bedroom/office all to myself. Promised my wife I wouldn't let this grow into a 'beast'...She's afraid I'll start wearing one of those enginneer caps anydaysign1
I think I'll switch the cannery and the service facility and add a track or two for a small T&C Service Facility with small staging yard....

I test fitting track and have already found no room for the planned houses and farm...It will fit on the far right of the layout....

I'll try to update the trackplan and post soon....

Uh oh... how about a drawing of the room you have available? We may be able to convert you to a shelf layout point to point operation after all...

this may be a moot point, but...

here's what I was talking about...

The idea is to provide a 'scene' in which your trains pass through.

You could do something with a shelf type layout as well.
