Good morning folks

Another nice fall day for us here in the Delaware Valley. It was 58 F as I headed off to work this morning. Our high today is supposed to be 70 F with a slight chance of showers. We really could use more rain. Everything is drying up again.

Tonight is one of those days parents love. You know the kind where you have to be in ten places at once. Tonight my son has football practice, and Back to School Night/Book Fair. I am supposed to pick up bags for our Cub Scout pack’s Scouting for Food Drive. Of course all these things are at the same time.

Speaking of football practice it will be interesting to see how things go tonight after the uninspired performance on Sunday. Another example of how unmotivated or don’t care the kids were. When my son’s team was making a defensive stand in the first quarter my wife tried to get the kids on the sidelines to cheer for the defense. The team’s tradition in this situation is to clap-clap-slap thigh pad-slap thigh pad. The kids looked at her as if she had three heads. My wife told them they should be doing it to encourage their team mates. One them turned around to her and asked, “Why?” In the meantime my son and a couple of the more experienced players were trying to get the rest of the defense to do the same on the field. Out of 11 only 4 did it. Needless to say the other team got a touchdown two plays later. Just plain and simple sad.

I finished sealing and thus weathering the four cylindrical hoppers and seven open hoppers.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Can't water during the approved hours tonight as Town Board meeting during that time. Busy day and no work on backdrop. Got it partly painted. LAter.

Good morning folks

It is beginning to get a little warm again. The last few nights have been a little stuffy and still. I had to get up in the middle of the night and open the windows and turn the fan on. Morning drive temperature was 60 F and our high is going to be 78 F.

No modeling last night. We had football practice and my son’ school had their Open House and Book Fair. I solved my problem of being in three places at once. I had to stop by the Scout Council Office to drop off some paperwork and I was able to pick-up our pack’s bags for the Scouting For Food Drive.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Tom, what is "Scouting for Food Drive"?

It is a food drive in the Philadelphia area that is done every November thru December. It is done in conjunction with a local TV station. It also has several parts. The Boy scouts handle the bins that are placed at local businesses, stores, and public locations. They also march in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade and do a collection as part of the parade. The Cub Scouts do a neighborhood door to door campaign. On one Saturday the Cub scouts leave bags on their neighbors doors asking for food donations. The following Saturday they collect them and bring them to the pack collection station. From there the items are sorted and taken to local shelters, and/or soup kitchens. Cradle of Liberty Council - Scouting For Food

What'd I miss? Why did you have to repair your track?

Here's the link to my blog :)

Zealot Hobby Forum - Grade problem

That "curve and grade" was supported by about 20 wood wedges. The last time I was able to run the train was around Easter (April 2007???). The cats have been scratching themselves on the wedge ends and pulled them out :(

I spent the time last night - Cutting new wedges, making the track better and pinning the wedges in place :) so the fix should last a while now :D :D :D I finally got the chance to test my staple gun that also shoots mini-brads :) :)

I had to clean out the stuff we had stored under the layout so I could cut an access hole in it and leave me a path to crawl under to do all this work. The Main Curve is 7 ft from the front of the layout

I fianlly got it cleaned a few weeks ago and cut out the hole :)

Good morning folks

It looks like the humidity has returned along with the unseasonable warm temperatures. It was 62 F this morning. We are expecting a high of 79 F. As the day progress the chance of showers increases. By tomorrow night we are supposed to have thunderstorms. That does not bode well with a Scout trip we have planned for tomorrow night which involves a hayride.

No modeling last night. We had Cub Scouts.

I hope everybody has a good day.
