Track Plan Help

Hello, All, I am ready to add to my layout, and have built two additional 4ftX8ft tables, I model Atlas HO gauge, and have a lot of new 083 code Track, Switches etc. I would like to do a basic 44" X 94" rectangle, and inside it a seperate figure 8 with 2 reverse loops on one of the tables, has anyone a plan, or does anyone know how I can get a list of materials that would be required. I have downloaded "RTS", DErailEN, Train-Brain and XTrkCad software, and CAN NOT figure out how to use any of them, after countless hours of trying, please don't offer any advise on using this software, I'm done trying that.wall1 I would like to find where I can buy or download such a plan, Any help would be appreciated.

PS, I have recently had eye surgery, and corrected a problem I have had for years, and no longer have to use large bold font, so I'm happy to report that I shouldn't have to upset anyone on the gauge again by doing so in the future.

Is your plan to have an island type layout with access on all 4 sides? What sort of equipment are you planning to operate? Your outside loop will be a 22 inch minimum radius. Your inside figure 8 can't be bigger than an 18 inch minimum radius. Why do you want reverse loops on a figure 8?

Hello Nomad, I have three other 4ft X 8 ft tables and a 4 X 4 that connect in a house shoe setup, this table will connect at the far East end of my current layout, and I run mostly small stuff, F3ABA, F7ABA's, AND A Challenger 4-6-6-4 a couple of switchers, which all make the 18" radius with no problem, the challenger being articulated, as for the turnarounds, Once my consist reaches the farthest East end, I want to be able to turn the trains around to travel in the opposite direction. This one will be on the farthest East end of my layout. Thank's for your inquiry.

Glad to hear things went well with the surgery. I would like to think that members of The Gauge would understand the need for an easy acommodation like larger font.

Ok Russ, I see where I was confused, I would need an outside rectangular loop using 22" radius, and then a complete inner rectangular loop using 18" radius, with the inner loop having a figure 8, the inner loop would connect to the outer loop using turnouts, one coming in and one leaving in the opposite direction in order to accomplish my goal, hope this makes more sense.

Planeshavings, if you google for mrr track plans, you will find lots of them. But they will be in different scales, mainly ho and n.

The proportions are not exact, but if you find an n-scale track plan you like, you can render it in ho by roughly doubling it-i.e. a 2x4 n-scale layout could be done in ho on a 4 x 8. If you find a layout for o gauge, you can divide it by 2 to get it in ho scale. The only thing that remains constant regardless of scale is in any sort of "walk in" type layout, the aisle widths can't change because modelers will always be in the 12 inches to the foot scale.

Only if it's 2-rail O ("O scale") instead of the more common 3-rail O ("O gauge").
