Good afternoon folks

I am getting a late start on the Internet today. It is Columbus Day and I am home. I just finished up a round of honey-dos and am taking a few minutes off. In a little while the wife and I will be heading out to run some errands. She just got in from work at the museum.

It is uncomfortable out there today. The humidity is downright ugly and the air quality stinks. It is 78 F on its way to a record high of 84 F. we still have no rain but they say some may come later this week. I hope so, the ground is rock hard and dusty.

We had the usual busy weekend. We did the shopping between other events. My daughter had her birthday party and my son his football game. They lost 26-0. It was not pretty. The coaches tried a few new things and they did not work.

I did finish fixing the turf around the small barn. I also finished the museum diorama. I still have to paint the sides to make it look more presentable.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Afternoon. Town business has now shot a whole day [meeting and phone calls this AM and meeting this afternoon]. Not happy as had train layout work planned for the day. Hope everyone's week goes better than this has started out for me.

Good evening folks

Now that our internet / cable service has been turned back on (And it seems to be staying on) :( It's Columbus Day and I am home. I just got back from riding around goofing off with my friend and now I'm doing the "Admin Duties" :)

It is uncomfortable out there today. The humidity is downright ugly and the air quality stinks. We had a record high of 89 F. we still have no rain but they say some may come later this week. I hope so, the ground is rock hard and dusty.

Busy 3 day weekend, went hiking yesterday for the Geocaching picnic, drove 1.5 hours each way.. Took up the whole day and it was great!!! Saturday was shopping and chores (So I could spend yesterday & Today with no worries :) :) ) aussie

Back to the grind tomorrow, 4 day work week "should" be uneventful - we'll have to wait and see...... :D :D :D

Have a good one!!!!!

P.S. -- See??? Like I said before: all I have to do is wait for Tom to post and copy "parts" of his post :D :D :D

~~ Thanks Tom!!!!

Good morning folks

We are still in the soup: hot and humid weather. Last night at 8 PM it was still 80 F. Yesterday we set a record at 89 F. The air just feels so heavy like a wet blanket. It was 75 F on the way to work. Today could be another record at 87 F. Football practice for my son is going to be ugly with the heat. The weather guessers are saying that relief is on the way with the possibility of thunderstorms tonight.

No modeling yesterday. I thought I was going to get some done but every time I started some crisis erupted.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning gang. Going to be another record high and terrible humidity. Then drop Friday to chilly with cold nights. Got to get the greenhouse cleaned and ready for plants. Off to Lowes [if it chokes me as been trying for several days] to get divider for layout. Want to get it painted mountain scene and installed so the right side will not look so funny. Hope all have a great day.

Hi Guys

What's Columbus Day?? Is it a public holiday? Is it the day Christopher Columbus found America?

it's a government holiday - all gov services get the day off on the anniversary of Columbus landing in America in 1492
That's funny too, because Columbus NEVER set foot in America, North, Central or South. What he discovered was San Salvador, an island in a group now known as the West Indies. He later discovered the island of Hispaniola. The Spanish Crown stole the credit of his discoveries and awarded them to Americus Vespucci who also never set foot in America.

Good morning folks

Has Fall finally arrived? After reaching a high of 85 F yesterday afternoon it quickly began to cool off. On my way home I actually ran into a rain shower. By the time my son went to football practice it was down to 68 F. That was a 17 degree drop in 5 hours. About 10 PM last night we had a line of thunderstorms roll through and drop an inch of rain on us. This morning it was noticeably more comfortable with a temperature of 64 F. The high today will be around 79 F with the possibility of more showers.

No modeling last night. I tried to get started but things just did not work out.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning. Did get to Lowes and get plywood for divider on top of layout. Also got several cans of paint for mountains and tree colors. Now to find time to do it. Meeting this AM and Dr's apt this PM. Record highs for the last few days. Temps dropping tomorrow to normal Oct for NC. That will seem good. Got to clean out greenhouse for plants as frost coming soon. Good photos Jeffrey. Tom, you are as busy as a bee too. Later

Good morning folks

What a change in the weather we are having. It was 55 F when I left this morning. We had some heavy rain overnight and were experiencing some scattered showers this morning. The weather guessers are saying that we can expect more showers and a high of 66 F.

Traffic this morning was a mess. My normal 45 minute commute took over an hour and a half. At first I could not figure out why there were so many cars on the road then I realized that it was all the soccer moms taking their kids to school because they can’t walk in the rain.

I set the weathered wheels back into the weathered trucks on the 11 hoppers. I then hit all 11 with a wash. Next is some airbrush weathering and sealing and they will finally be done.

I hope everybody has a good day.

There was also "Police" on one main road, a fallen tree (From the rain) on another road.. and other stupid stuff...

Morning all. Yankee temps this AM. 53 degrees. From record braking 90's two days ago. Now if you Yanks would send us Rebs some of that rain you are holding back. Greenhouse prep and plant moving is number 1 today. Suppose to get to high 30's tonight. Temp in house is 70. During the winter in the day, we keep it on 69 to 68. Have a good one.
