Looks good Gary!

QHS is a small copper hauling railroad, they run approximately 20 miles of track, and lease out a number of their cars due to the fact that its easier then a dedicated fleet for processed copper hauling. When the railroad began, and for the first 15 years (until 1980) the cards were sometimes known to be labeled "return empty to home road".

Yes sir! There's one that left Maryland a few weeks back. They can be found anywhere copper was needed.

Ralph, I got anxious this morning and printed out the decals. You had given a pretty large range of numbers, so I played the odds that a number I picked would not be one you picked. I found an outline map of New York off of the internet, and then matched your fonts.

I haven't put the decals on the car yet, so that is no big deal. The number I chose is 13436. Is that one vacant and acceptable? If so, I just need to get a car painted up. But I can change the number if needed. Let me know.

I don't have my camera this weekend so I can't do any photos... unless I can figure out how to use my wife's camera.

Gary, I don't have one with that number. :thumb: Looking forward to seeing it!

I used to work on a 3 mile shortline here in Stockton who has a fleet of over 200 cars and they can regularly be found in North East Canada and down in Mexico. Shortline cars get around my friend!

Hey Ralph and Jbaako,

I haven't forgotten about ya, just real busy on getting the layout ready for my openhouse. I'll eventually get the boxcars done!

Gary,

I finally got a non-decal sheen image of one of the cars! Here's a 40 foot box car.

That's a heck of a layout you have there Ralph. I'm sorry, I don't mean to Hi-jack the thread, but I've always admired that layout and it's big city feel, not very easy to pull off on a model railroad. You did though very nicely.

I have to agree, Ralph: you've done a nice job of capturing that big city grittiness. The boxcar looks good, too! :thumb::thumb:
