Wow! How did I miss this thread till now? That looks really good, Trucklover:thumb: Your hill sides turned out great, I think that I am going to have to try and do some hills that way, they turn out really nice. Where did you get your rocks on the hillside?

I have to get some of those big orange Lane Dividers, some people in Utah have been trying to make those the state symbol. Lately we have been playing "Get to the Train Club Meeting without passing any orange lane dividers." No one has won in months.

You have done a great job weathering your stuff:thumb: Great job!

Thanks Scott!!! Im very pleased with the hillsides to, and this is my first attempt at making them also! They are pretty fun to shape.

The rocks that I used are Woodland Scenice Talus (color is called Buff) and I used Coarse, Medium, extra coarse on the hillside I believe then sprinkled on some extra fine sand that I got from the sand mix that used in making the morter for brick walls.

sign1sign1The big orange cones are great and they really help make the scene, at least on mine they do, I know what you mean in real life tho and its usually the same around here hahaha. There made by Sodder Enterprises, heres there link to there HO scale stuf: HO-Scale. Hes got some really cool stuff there, check em out, thats where I got all my construction acessories (cones, pipes, jersey barriers....) thats on the diorama.

Awesome Josh! Now we need to get you working on a full sized layout!

hahahaha thanks Josh!!!!

Speaking of full sized layouts, I made up a new plan, member how we were talking about what your industries were going to be on your layout? Well I liked what you were talking about so much and it got me thinking and I opened up Atlas Freeware and made up a new plan AGAIN hahahaha. Im serious about this one, I think that this is the one that I WILL FOR SURE be using. It has a MASSIVE Cement Plant, HUGE Grain Plant, Good sized Refinery, and Rolling Mill with Allied Rail Rebuilders combined to make a big mill area, custom built warehouse building useing 5 of the Walthers Cornerstone Heritage Furniture Buildings, and a coupler backround buildings againt the wall in a few spots.

Ill have to make a thread and post it, Im for sure sure going to use this one, this is my all time favorite one out of all of them that I have done so far and it only has a few HUGE indusries on it rather then a ton of smaller ones lol.

the diorama came out great trucklover! start looking on the sides of highways for little details.like old tires, grease marks, skid marks, etc.it would definitley add alot of realism to your diorama.and you could also take a picture looking down a street and glue it behind your bridge for added depth.cant wait to see your first pics and your new trackplan trucklover!--josh

Hey Josh, you can do more than truck stuff. Where did you find the traffic cones and barriers. You did it to me again all I was doing was looking for information on paint and I have spent 2 hours looking over your CAT Rental, Blast Furnace and rolling mills. Great work! Jerry

Good luck finding any more of them tho wall1 they are near impossible to find :curse: If you come accross some let me know cuz you can never have enough cones, i have somewhere around 350 of them

Keep It Moving!
It looks pretty good, but the only thing i'd suggest is add ruts in your gravel and dirt surfaces from wheels of trucks and things. Even though they are technically free to drive through out some of these areas, people generally follow the same path, and once on rut is made, its likely others will follow it. I'm pretty sure those front end loaders probably leave marks to.

anywhere there is a an exposed corner (as in no curbs, but may even then you'll get a dirt patch) there will probably be ruts as well.

These also fill with water, so if you are crazy, makes some puddles in some ruts.

just a thought

Chris
