The posts and cards are have been humling to say the least.

You , I never knew how many great people are in this world until things got tough.

At this point my kideys are a bit better, well, my kidney, I have one:cool: and my hemoglobin is up. I am now holding of the doctors and social workers with a whip and chair.

I drove myself to the lab today, about 2 miles and went to the drive thru ATM.

I will tell you a story.

Tell myself this story.

My grandmother had a very deformed club foot. As a young woman she met my grandad who was a miller and a cobler and about 40 her senior.

They were both widowed with kids so they married, second time for her, third for him.

They had 3 children together that lived.

Now old Welling Luther, Bill they called him was born in 1847 and had 21 children in his life time. My dad was the last born in 1923.

His first son was born in 1876 when Custer died at the Big Horn and Bell invented the phone. Grandad Frame died in 1933 I think.

When I was born dad was more than concerned that I would ,like grand ma, be crippeld. I looked OK but he took me to a specialist. This guy was a Japenees doctor who practiced medicine here using the name and licence of a Filipino doctor trapped in Manilla durring WW!!.

He saw a deformaty and from the age of 6 months to a year I wore casts with a rod between them on my feet almost to my kees. I dont recall it but I have heard how grandma cried at night for a whole year over it. The poor soul, how she must of blamed herself though she need not.

She died when I was 10 and did not live to see me march on that once cribbled foot for 5 years in the infantry, and learn the art and science of being a dumb grunt.

So, if it takes a whip and chair to keep the "biogrphers and pick locks" at bay a while longer I think i can.

The spirit is indeed willing even if the flesh is week.

I get by on the kindness of strangers...

Remember...it's for fun!
Gil,
Your spirit is indeed willing and strong to boot! I think your grandmother would have been impressed by your physical strength over the years, and especially now, as well.

Thanks for for letting us hear from you!
Best wishes,
Ralph

reporting in

Gil, I'm over 20 years your senior and have problems up the gazoo, but it is reports and letters from guys like you that keep me going. It isn't whether better or worse off, it is the spirit of you that means so much. Keep up the good thoughts, for only God will decide when day is done.

21 children!! My goodness, that man was looking to populate the United States all by himself!

I too was born with a club foot but I only had to wear a cast on the one leg for the first year of my life. Now, with the exception of my right foot being one full shoe size bigger than the left, you can not tell.

Nice to hear from you Gil!

My left foot is a half size larger and I never knew why.

I after sleeping on it decided to remove that part of the post as it is very selfserving andseems sappy.

I will leave it though if you liked it.

You indeed show spirit. I can see why you are so inclined with such a heritage as that. it seems as if our prayers are helping, keep going, our prayers and thoughts are still with you. We are a community that comes together whether it be a time of need, or just a time to have fun.
