Hey gang. Been spending quite a bit of time looking through the various forums and I just got to say I love all the pics that have been posted. I think it is great so many are sharing what they are and have done, and I must say WOW!!!!! Some of those shots made me look three times trying to figure out if it was really a model railroad and not some pic from a real line somewhere.

It also looks like I found a great forum right off the bat too. From what I have read so far no one really seems hung up about one scale in particular or thinks it is stupid if someone puts together a fictional railroad instead of modeling part of a real one. Looks to me, most if not all, care more about the fun of things than anything else and the support I have seen between members is fantastic. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Ahhhhh, so that means you must have come across my picturessign1! I am definitely NOT a rivet counter. I love modeling scenery and railroads but when it comes to things being correct, I'm all about having fun as opposed to getting it absolutely realistic. Sheesh, I've even got pictures of my Japanese bullet train right alongside my Challenger and freight trains with every road name possible in the same train.

Oh come on! It's not that bad! sign1 Now that I scrutinize the picture even more, there's double stacks in there as well:mrgreen:. I think this was the day I pulled out all my extremes and was running each one to verify portal heights, clearances and whatnot. Does that lighten the penalty a little?

And if you ever post in-progress pics, you will get a lot of support from everyone, and even some constructive criticism at times too. We are all here to help each other, from the rivet counters down to the people running bullet trains with double stacks and steamers all at the same time! ;)

Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy your stay, I know I have

Yeah

Hey Viperman. You said something about constructive criticism so you're the one that popped the lid on this bucket of worms. I'll make a deal with you; I'll deal with ALL the criticism, and you do my construction. I think that is a pretty good deal..........................for me.

If I don't put a few haw haw smilies and a few signs, would you, could you, will you consider a deal like that? After all, I wouldn't EVER offer that to just anybody.

That works for me! Whenever I run that Challenger, I usually think of it as an excursion train. I guess I probably shouldn't mention the Japanese articulated passenger train barely visible in the upper left of the photo. I'm not sure how that would fit in. Must be some sort of railfest happening.

There you go. Good answer any time you want to radically mix trains from different eras. Either that or say that you are modeling the area between Central Nebraska and Denver. That area is almost like the land that time forgot. ;)
