Best switching engine

I just built a 23" by 11" micro layout.
It's DC ( I had trouble with DCC ), uses Peco electrofrog and Peco flextrack.
I was amazed of how so smooth the Atlas TH&B GP7 runs on it.
I have other engines that are good too on a switching layout, Atlas CPR GP9, Life-Like TH&B SW9-1200, Atlas Atlas L&N MP-15 DC ( I know it sounds odd for a Canadian based layout ) and Life-Like MoPac GP-18 ( my 1st N scale engine ).

Here is a pic of the marvel.

and the layout that includes what the Brits name a "sector plate"
Switching is fun.

Any other suggestion for a smoooooth switching engine ?

Although some folks have had issues with the Atlas VO-1000s, my pair (relettered for my railroad) run just fine.

The Life-Like SW8s seems to be good for me as well.

Here is a pic of the switching layout. I wanted to practice building a sector plate.
The other requirement was to have a runaround track.
