Dean: Fantastic loco shots as always. I swear you'll make a steam fan out of me...although I did like the way you followed it up with those EG-E diesel uits! 
Charlie: Thanks for a little Rock reminicing! When I was at Central College in Pella, IA between '77 and '81 I saw slow Rock Island freights cut right through the campus. It made this NYer a fan. I still have the Trains magazine issue tribute to the Rock from the 80's

Thanks for the kudos everyone, but I must confess. The pic I posted is actually two. One with the locos, and another with the skyshot. A little magic, with some help from Picture It v.10, and there ya go. Its something else I like doing.

hello everyone---excellent pictures,thanks for sharing---deano,as much as i like those uncle pete diesels of yours,those steam engines look fantastic and also those EG&E u-boats are outstanding.
as a follow up to doctor wayne's thread,i'm posting another shot of lowbanks as the cnr also used this facility whenever they ran trains on the EG&E.
prior to those u-boats hauling heavy coal trains on this division,the cnr used to run some heavy power along these rails.you may have seen double-headed mikes and also #4100 in past photos.a recent photo collection has shown that other heavy cn locomotives were also used through lowbanks,often double-heading---hopefully i will be able to share some of these photos shortly.
in the meantime,here's a shot from barney secord's crop plane showing another busy scene from lowbanks,hope you enjoy

Here is my uncle's M-32 Doodlebug that he is transforming into a Electric Doodlebug. We all know that there was no such thing but he wanted to do something a little different. Here you see it sitting just outside of the coaling tower that is currently under construction as well. This doodlebug will be for the 2Guyz Railroad.

Hey, hold on, I don't think most of you have seen my latest aquisition, so here's a pic:
This engine is almost as sentimental to me as my F3, mainly due to the fact that it was a Conrail engine that I liked so much as a 4-year old that I began to get a liking for model trains back then (although I'm glad I didn't get it now, just think of all the broken detail parts!). No.1992 is also my first weathered engine. Division 7's meeting today had a presentation on unusual weathering, and had a hands on part where you weathered with cheap makeup! Our guest, Matt Snell, said I could keep the engine I was weathering, and so the latest power to the RRR came into my possesion. You can probably see that one front handrail is missing. Matt let us mess with a bunch of scrap engines he had, so the engine wasn't exactly 'out of the box' as you might say. I created a story for how 1992 became a Riverside engine, too:
Conrail #1992 was slated for scraping, and so was rusting away on a far siding in a freightyard, old and frogoten. The engine's last owner, CSX, had written off the engine years ago, and so the engine blonged to no one. However, CNW #4242 had been sent to pick up a freight in the yard, and the driver of 4242 was a rookie (doctorwayne, remember the incident with the truck and the slow-going steamer? 4242's driver is a decendant of the rookie on the steam engine), so as he backed up to couple up to the freight, he started to read 'Auto Trader', expecting a sudden shudder to signify that he'd coupled up. However, there was no resistance when 4242 coupled up to the freight, and so 4242 began backing the entire train up, right into a switch, the switch that conected the siding that 1992 was on to the main yard. Somehow, the switch was set up that the reversing train was heading to 1992, and so the reversing train coupled to the rusty old Conrail. The resulting resistance caused a shudder, and so the engineer of 4242, believing that he'd finaly coupled the train up, departed off to Riverside with number 1992 tailing behind...

Grand Theft Auto:Conrail! :razz: In any case no railroad object is owned by "No one", especially a locomotive! If it were sitting on, say, a deadline on the far side of the yard, it would be still owned by CSX or a local Scrapyard that bought it for scrap value and hadn't used it. Perhaps you can tweak your story by saying that your Company saved this GE unit and purchased it cheap, due to the fact that nobody wants to buy a used GE! (Well, they do hold a much lower re-sale value than their EMD and ALCo cousins.) So there you go! Saved from the torch, CSX and a Scrapyard! sounds like a more realistic story to me. Nice unit BTW, those are excellent haulers, and run quite nicely!
I'm not done yet, I was just making a cliffhanger there because I didn't want to make it too long:mrgreen: Here's the rest of the story:
Now, you'd think someone in the yard would see this and get 4242 to stop, right? Well, everyone in the yard did, but remember, 1992 was suposed to be scraped, so everyone thought that 1992 was going to be scrapped at last, so said nothing. As a result, 1992 got a free ride to Riverside. Now had 1992 still be in service, there would be BIG problems. However, because CSX had dis-owned 1992 so long ago, a search on the lists of engines in service currently brought up nothing but the order that 1992 be scraped. Normaly, 1992 would have been scrapped by any other railroad, but because the rusted engine had come to Riverside, 1992 was put back on the lists as in service on the RRR, but curently undergoing repairs. It is to be expected in service at least by December of this year:mrgreen: (it's my practice loco for weathering, plus it needs a handrail and classification lights.)

Well, that would be a contradiction in terms, but there were electric self-propelled passenger cars that didn't look too different.
Yeah I know that. He is doing a fine job on it. He is planning on having a section in the mountains around his layout just for electric's.
