Had a nice wet drive to the East. Why do people drive on the left side of a highway?

Well I made good time so I could watch the Steelers tonight only to find out they don't carry the channel I need. What is worse the cheap radio doesn't get them either. I know it is only a preseason game.

I might make another trip down to the Strasburg Museum this week. It will be closed but it isn't a bad time to walk around and I can at least watch the steam locomotive at the Strasburg RR.

I will have to find out if Barry's up in E-Town has a late night during the week. It looks like a decent LHS.

I hope I got the ringworm issue contained it appears to be limited to the farm cats.

YES I just picked up the STEELER game on the internet. Sometimes you just have to love modern technology. I only wished I would of thought about this an hour ago.announce1

John, Barry has different hours in the Summer. Not sure what they are as I usually go in during the day. I will check it out and let you know. They usually have the hours on their answering machine but I just called the number and and got no answer? The number is 717-367-4745 if you want to try tomorrow. I know most days they open at 12:00 noon and close at 6:00 but think there is a night or two they are open later in the Summer. Also they are closed all day on Wednesday.

Take care,

Thanks John. I just found your cell number so I will try to call you this week. It was a busy week last week and I even the experience of the May Flies while watching a baseball game on the island.

Let me know if he has any late hours this week, or I guess I could try to call. I have a full line up each day until 5PM. However I get out at noon on Friday. I'm staying off of 30 not 283.

The weekend was rushed since I made the trip down and back in one day. I was just glad to make a few things down at Strasburg plus the outlets for my wife.

I have a new cell phone and for the life or it I don't know the number.

Take care and I will try to catch you this week.

I had a hard time last night. The amount of fluid I am holding must be 8 liters now. I can barely move. It is no easy task to get a Dr. to tap it off.

They tell me I havn't much time left. I wonder what will become of my trains.

Good morning folks

We have a wet morning and are expecting more wetness today. By football practice time this evening they say the rain will stop. We need the rain. The ground is rock hard and I noticed the water level in the pond going down. Today the high will reach around 90 F. Currently it is 74 F. The A/C in the office is working so-so this morning so it feels real sticky right now.

We spent the weekend running around doing last minute vacation things. We also began the back to school shopping. The kids now have their uniforms for the coming school year. After the sun went down on both Saturday and Sunday I mowed the yards. I did not want to do it while the sun was up since things were so dry.

No modeling this weekend.

The family and I will be leaving on vacation tomorrow. We will be returning late next Tuesday night. We are heading to Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

Gil, we will keep you in our prayers and hope for a recovery.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Morning. Not much time to share this AM. Got lunch with newpaper reporter, County Commissioners' meeting this afternoon and Town Board tonight. Need to take Planning Director to a street site this AM too. Engineers. Turn lane for left turns is so short school buses hang out into the straight lane. The turn lane is the entrance to a new school. Can't give a degree in common sense. Have a good one. Triple digits and no rain this week. wall1

Nice to see that I am not the only one that has to deal with this stuff. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to drag our so called traffic experts/engineers out to a project site to educate them on reality. Case in point, a certain Interstate that backs up every Saturday morning. They allowed the contractor to take a lane or two for construction. The only problem is a thing called shore traffic on Saturday morning. Now they can’t figure out why they have 10 to 15 mile back-ups. I sat in several meetings before the project began and tried to explain the situation to them but was told that it wasn’t during weekday rush hour so they didn’t think it was a problem. I have a section of my cube wall that is dented from me banging my head against it.

Thanks 60103!

CNW:
Hustler was the name Athearn gave to a little 4 wheel diesel switcher that they made for decades. (Started in the 60s). Its actual prototype was debatable and it was probably distorted to fit over the motor. The original was a rubber-band drive (trade name Hi-F) with a double-ended motor and a rubber band to 2 very thick axles.
Its two claims to fame were being the cheapest loco in HO ($4.95) and "winning" Model Railroader's speed test with a speed of 400+ scale miles per hour.I think the mechanism may have been upgraded in later years. "Hustler" may have been used by other firms, but I doubt it.
"Heisler" is something else.

Ah, so THAT's the story behind this engine! That would also explain its presence in the 'used and abused" box in a cheap sandwich bag. THe engine, however, has a drive axel that mounts right underneath the engine and the whole system works of gears. Like I said, I'll post pics when I get back to Ohio because I don't have a dock for my digital camera.

and "winning" Model Railroader's speed test with a speed of 400+ scale miles per hour.

LOL it's the little desiel that could!sign1:mrgreen:

As I Drive UNDER the bridge in question, 4 miles North of the "Idiots working on I-95" and see the traffic (Again no exaggeration) from morning 'till night.. I couldn't understand how "those idiots" could authorize work on weekends...

The Bridge to the shore is where the backups "mysteriously' end!! DUH!!!!!!!

and ALL 6 signs near me have a message that continuously flashes 24/7 day in and day out... on all the entrances to the Interstate

CONSTRUCTION WORK
9PM TO 5 AM
EXPECT DELAYS

Now - I want everyone to back up Tom here - - Is 2 PM on Sunday between 9 PM and 5 AM?????? wall1wall1wall1wall1wall1

The signs should read

EXPECT DELAYS... and SURPRISES!!!

I went to see the doc today about a shooting pain I've been having in my right ankle the last few days. It just feels like a lightning bolt jumps from my ankle to my lower back and it's really annoying! I wish I could just ban it like I would an undesirable or disruptive member on my forum, but I can't. Darn! He took X-rays and found the culprit. My Charcot condition has fired up again. Having done as much damage as it could do in my right, it's decided it's time to move up in the world. It is now attacking my right ankle, disintegrating the the joint and making it collapse in on itself, catching the poor sciatic nerve in the middle. Every time the bones move a certain way, the nerve gets pinched, about two or three times every five minutes. Surgery is out of the question, as removing any bone from the joint will make it far weaker than it is. So he prescribed a pain killer that helps deaden nerve pain. Something called Garpentin. It's 300 mg per capsule and I have to take it twice a day. I hope it helps. These electrical flashes are really annoying me!

I made a mad dash to Barry's In E-town today since I found out they were open to 6 PM. It was worth the trip since they had the Lionel CN cylinder hopper I was looking for. I love the candy stripe paint scheme. In addition I bough some K-Line cars since they were 5 for $20. I even bought some K-Line wood cross buck fencing that was very cool. I think I will try to make my own later. I might have to make another trip Thursday since they are open to 9PM.

I give this place a decent rating with a broad enough selection to make most people happy. They just bought a large private collection that I plan on going through.

Pooh Bah
Mikey: last year we were taking some friends to downtown Toronto. There's one little sign "407 one lane 427 to Yonge Street", but that's fine because 427 is a big highway and we're going down it.
Just after we pass the last exit before 427, we go around a curve and there's a 3-lane-wide tailback, which we sit in for a half hour or more.
Turns out the single lane starts just before the ramps at 427.
