You got that right! I have two that I almost no end of problems with. In the end I replaced them.They can be expensive, but they certianly work, you just need to set them up right. switches are one of the craziest things on a railroad. they all need to be super precise, and as things get complicated, its harder to reach that precision.

Did they help you at all with your layouts?
That's what makes it all interesting.
We have a member in our Club that hates people operating and touching on his stuff, so he doesn't really invite people to see what he calls His Scalectrix (his is a German layout basically in a figure eight).
But he practices what he preaches- he won't come and operate on your layout, just sit and watch/ talk.
I personally only want help with tricky stuff like benchwork and track over joints (especially with my portable layout), etc.
The rest I also want to do, like you, on my own.
