Deano, Mark, thank you for the Baldwins. I don’t know why, but from the moment I saw the first picture of a VO 1000, I loved this engine. BTW, Deano, what do you think about your Stewart VO 1000?

Tom, your MP15 is nearly as nice as a Baldwin :thumb:.

Here is a picture of my two Baldwins sitting on a siding and waiting for their next job.

Brakie: Sweeeet lookin GP7:thumb: whats the trailing unit?

The 5713 is trailing. The lead unit is a C&O GP38-2..That fellow in the cab is the head brakeman looking back over the train.A ARFE is along for his required monthly ride in the lead unit.
For the county fair I been running a lot of Chessie(c&o) and C&O power.:thumb: In fact Chessie,C&O and CSX seems to be ruling the back layout including C&O Steam. The guys that are working the 7 AM-2 PM shift are big Chessie,C&O and CSX fans..The lone BN units was finally replace by 2 Athearn C&O GE units. bounce7
Its been a smooth week so far with zero derailments.

Deano,I have a pair of those units I got back in 2000.

Keep 'em coming folks!
Nazgul- what's with the red Model T?

Well, here's how my layout's coming along:
baseline.jpg

if you notice, the grain elevator is missing from the table. That's because it's curently being modified from its orignal final scheme. THe edges of all the visible roof peices have been weathered with two tones of custom grey paint and the decals are being sprayed with dullcoat (although if you notice in the first pic, the really large decal in the front over the train loader just won't stop shining!)

Cool! More Locos! I have never seen that Western Maryland scheme.
As you may notice, that's the same as the B&O/C&O pre-Chessie scheme. However, WM wasn't part of that grouping then. When it became part of Chessie, it was neglected. Very few new engines were bought for WM. Eventually, some engines had to be reassigned from the other Chessie roads to WM. At least some of these were still in pre-Chessie colors and only relettered.

Actually the B&O and C&O acquired full control of WM in 1967. WM went into Chessie System in 1973, and B&O formally merged WM on May 1, 1983..

Kurt: Nice looking Baldwins:thumb:

Steve: cool scene, excellent weathering on the boxcars:thumb:

CNWman:cool looking mill.:thumb:

Brakie: Sweeeeeet! Love that ALCO switcher! post more .. :thumb:

The strange WM unit is a former C&O GP9, both the B&O and WM needed power and the C&O had tons of older Geeps. Some were repainted, a few were just patched.

But WM still used the "circus" colors until 1973.

And beyond that.I saw the "last" WM Circus scheme in Huntington,W,Va in '92..I have pictures of this scheme taken in the early/mid 80s.

Brakie: Bite your tongue man! They were bootiful:p

Ralph: The B&O painted 12 of their BW type cabs up in different colors. The C&O had 7 of their WV type plus 1 Northeastern type , and the WM had 4 of their Northeastern type. All had different safety slogans. There were 3 each B&O and C&O Careful Car Handleing cabs painted in a vermillion color. I'm not sure about this but if an Employee saw one of the CCH cabs and reported the car number and where they saw it, they were sent a safety cap.

brakie-those are some cool cabooses, especialy the purple one

chessie4155-cool engine!

Ralph, chessie4155, the mill is Walthers Cornerstone model 'Prarie Star Grain Elevator' custom painted and weathered (you should have seen it before I painted it!) The big logo is supposed to go on the side of the building, but I think it looks coller on the front where all the action is. The final detail will be some dirt and debrie on the roof to make it look natural. Here's some more pics of the elevator:

Hey, where'd that police car come from? Let me get a closer look:
