Good morning folks

We are still damp from more showers last evening and overnight. Current temp is 72 F with a high of 88 F. It is supposed to clear up and we are should have a nice weekend with highs in the 90s.

I am sitting here wondering whether I will be working next week or not. If the state does not pass a budget over the weekend I along with 24,000 other state workers will be furloughed. It is no fun being a pawn between two sets of idiots.

I just read that the Philadelphia Phillies have the chance sometime in the next week to become the first professional sports franchise to lose 10,000 games! The much maligned Cubs aren’t even close. They are somewhere around 9,000. Second place is the Atlanta/Milwaukee/Boston Braves with a little over 9,600. People wonder why Philly sports fans boo so much.

No modeling last night. I did put some trains away. I also pulled out the next set of cars I will be weathering. This time I am going to do some tank cars. I have 4 Atlas cars and 3 Athearn RTR cars.

I have no clue what we will be doing this weekend. Maybe we will take a drive down to the shore or perhaps take a trip to Knoebels. We could even wind up out in Lancaster County.

I would like to start weathering the tank cars. Also I need to clean up and organize the layout so I figure out my next project on it.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Out AZ way
The heat wave continues in the entire west. We've had ten straight days over 110. Wednesday it was officially 116, but as I was driving near our house, our car thermometer showed that it was 122 out. Regardless, it was hot. Today and for the next four days they show a 10% chance of rain, but chances are it'll evaporate before it hits the ground.

Not much going on this weekend. I've decided to go over my trackwork and fix every problem I can find which is going to include replacing several turnouts that I can't get to switch properly. Now's the time to do stuff like that since it's not a good time to spend outside. There's a show on TV "the American Inventor", and I'm waiting for one of them to bring out a PPAC, or a Personal Portable Air Conditioner. They'd sell out here regardless of the cost...:p :p :p :p

Going to Strasburg, PA to meet with robertinontario and his family :D Go figure.. We're meeting at the Railroad Museum of PA... :D

Some "news" happening in PA... seems the big-wigs can't agree on a budget... Money runs out Sunday...

if they don't get a new budget approved, ALL the state museums and other offices are CLOSED Monday...... at the height of tourist season

........ not a good thing for the state's economy :( :( :(

Yeah - that stinks - There are sooooo many people that this crap affects... I hope they get an 11th hour thing and straighten it all out!!!

Good evening,

We finally got some rain, .4" on Wednesday evening & another 2" on Thursday evening. The 2" was spread over about 7 hours so a lot of it did soak in.

Spent some time at Reading Days at the PA RR Museum yesterday. Two modular layouts, the Reading Historical & Technical Society in HO and Joe Bryce in 3 rail O. Will post some pictures.

We are heading to Horseshoe Curve and Railfest at Altoona tomorrow, early train out of Harrisburg with the Harrisburg Chapter of NRHS. Hope to get some good pics. Probably wont be on tomorrow as we will get home late.

Take care,

John you will have to think about me every time you see a train east bound. The family and I will be up at the Staple Bend Tunnel again tomorrow. However we will be taking the bikes since I know how long the trail is. In any event All those trains going East will pass by me first.

We will only be about 10 miles from each other. Let me know what time you will be at the curve and we might stop by.

Hey everyone,
Just got back from my grandma's house after going there to celebrate the 4th, and for some reason alot of railroad stuff was involved. THere was a discovery of a new train store, an encounter with a Norfolk and Western stone bridge, and the learning of a picture of a real coal mine loader in my grandma's possesion. However, the train shop was closed for the week 'cause of the 4th, I couldn't get a pic of the bridge (it was in a great condition for a rail bridge), and my grandma couldn't find the picture. On the plus side, I got to see that movie of the rat chef (I can't spell the name, it's ratatouie or something like that) and on the 4th saw Transformers, now my favorite movie of all time. For the stats of my layout, my new shop (Midtown Apliance Sales & Service) will be decaled and built today. Tomorow will be even better, though, for I get to go to my NMRA division's monthly meeting then, and I bet it will be awesome!

Cheers,
CNWman

I've been to that Cabelas several times Chief! Great store! Sorry to hear Zeke is not doing as well. I was amazed when you said they might push him out of the hospital. I wish him well.

Well I never did get to see John but I did have fun watching the E 8's. We even made our bike trip to Staple Bend Tunnel.

I will be going back up to the Curve tomorrow for the first run of the PRR E-8.

BTW I have a new Caboose Photograph. This is what happens when those smart guys from NC try to use their GPS to find the curve. He had Vote for Mayor stickers all over the back.

Long day!

We didn’t get back from the vets with my son’s hamster until 12:30. That’s why I did not call you Mikey to see about meeting you and robertinontario. The hamster is doing better than a week ago. She has a viral infection. Last week she also had a bacterial infection which almost killed her. She still has a ways to go to get over the viral infection. Because of the infections she has lost the sight in one eye. We are hoping she pulls through because the kids would be heartbroken if she did not.

Since it was too late to meet up with anyone we headed east and visited the Cape May County Zoo. When we got home the kids and the wife got on the computer and now it is finally my turn.

I did pull out the three Athearn tank cars and four Atlas tank cars I am going weather. I looked them over and decided what I will do first, which is change the couplers to Kadees.

I still don't know if I will be going to work on Monday. The clowns in Harrisburg still can't settle their squablling and pass a budget.
