Morning. Slow this AM. Off to Miss Edna's [Todd's Train Depot]. No progress on layout. Think that might happen in the next two weeks. Decided to Let the expert rebuild my boat's carbs. So will take it to shop and then that frees up a bay to paint my sound board. Once I do that, I will unscrew track, lift it in sections and slide under two sheets of sound board. Once that is done, scenery can start. One thing my Dad taught me about hay was not to put it in barn wet or green. Rot starts and builds heat and then fire. Sorry for his loss. Lots of feed to buy in its place. Have a good one.

We just got back from our town’s fireworks display. They put on a good long show this year. It has been a busy weekend and I tell about it later. I have not gotten any modeling done but I may still have a chance before I go to bed so I better get off of here for now.

Hi Guys,
It's been a long day here. Traveled to upstate PA to a funeral for one of Jean's relatives. Two hour drive each way. He was a very nice guy and I guess a lot of people thought so also as they had to put chairs in the aisles next to the pews in the church. It was packed. He was actually 4 months younger than I, makes you think.

Did run trains for a few minutes this evening. Finally tried out the CNJ boxcab and it runs great. Only has one power truck and I connected it to a seven car passenger train on the layout as a test and it pulled it fine. Of course it is a switcher and would normally be handling a few cars at a time.

Time for bed,
take care,

Good morning folks

Wow what a difference a weekend makes. The end of last week was hot and humid, today is mild and pleasant. It is 62 F with a high of 76 F expected. We have a clear blue sky.

We had a busy weekend with yard work and grocery shopping. We visited my wife’s new place of employment the Delaware Museum of Natural History so she could try out her knowledge on the kids. We caught a movie; Ratatouille. We finished up the weekend by attending our town’s 4th of July Fireworks.

With all that we were doing I did not get much time at the trains. I was going to do some airbrush weathering last night but I realized that I still had a few things to do on the Athearn flat cars. I forgot how much. I had to change the couplers to Kadees, remove the old damaged brake wheels and add new ones. I also had to do my normal maintenance of the trucks before I put the wheels back in place. By the time I finished with them it was too late to fire up the airbrush.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Today's forecast calls for up to 114 in some areas. One TV forecaster said it could get up to 120 on July 4th. That would beat the old record or 118... Well, I've always said that once it gets over 110 it's hard to tell the difference.:p :p Hot is hot and there's not two ways about it. Oh yeah, "but it's a dry heat" they say. Humidity is around 5%, so they also say that when it's 112 out, it only "feels like" 105. Boy that's comforting to know..

Evening all. Town business all morning. Watered wife's flowers and shrubs rest of the day. Did cook squash/onions, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers for wife's dinner [had it ready at 4:30 when she gets home]. All from garden. Watered garden all day yesterday [use soaker hoses by the stalks of the plants]. Can't seem to get any rain at all. Guess we are going to turn into Phoenix. Just walked to pond and back [1 1/2 miles +]. Fed fish. Rest now. Had planned to detail my truck [filthy] today. Will do tomorrow. Will mow parched grass in the back inside the fence tomorrow. This is because we have big fireworks display in Roseyville night of the 4th. Friends come over and watch in back yard. Usually have about 35 folks and serve hotdogs. Not this year. Some coming to watch and that is it. Fireworks across field in park. Good evening to all.

Hi guys,
Worked out this morning and ran a few erands. Not a lot of pep after that so took it easy and watched some reruns on TV.

That dinner sounds great Chief, I love veggies. I did have some garden fresh tomatoes with lunch.

Take care,

Joining the "Club"

I'm being forced to join the "Grandfather's" club :D :D :D :

The oldest step daughter called her mother and said she's going to have a baby... We're in Pennsylvania and she' in Massachusetts, so she said she'll come visit us after the baby's born.

It's our first grandchild - so this is going to take a bit of "getting used to" :yep::yep::yep:

Good morning folks

You have got to love Philadelphia area weather. One day you are sweating and the next you are looking for your jacket. We had the hot and humidity. Now it is cool. Temperature this morning when I pulled out of the driveway was 57 F. The high today is supposed to be 80 F. The best part is there is little or no humidity. One of my projects made the news this morning: KYW Newsradio 1060 Philadelphia - PennDOT Rebuilding Bucks County Covered Bridge . It was a cool project to work on. Something out of the ordinary.

I finally got some modeling done. I finished weathering the two gondola, six steel reefers, and two flat cars. Now I just need to seal them.

Congratulations Old-timer, er I mean Mikey!

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning,

Tom, It was 51.8 this morning at 6:00 AM. Very nice, but I think this is it for a while. Supposed to be hot tomorrow with afternoon thundershowers so humidity will be back.

Mikey, Congrats on the expected grandchild. We have eight and they are a lot of fun (most times). I babysit the three youngest quite a bit. Three girls from 7 mos. the 6 years. That is a challenge. Every Tuesday we have three others when the parents bowl. From 8 years to 14 years. The two oldest are boys in this set. The other two live in CO so we only see them about once a year.

Were is the Chief? He must be sleeping in real late this morning.

Take care,

Watering the wife's flowers [again and again].:curse:

Not as hot and humid. Been busy watering wife's flowers [again and again]. Folks flooding all over the country and we can't get a drop. Next we will get lots and complain its too wet. Guess the good Lord gets confused with our requests.
Man, the new used KW is great [won on ChooChooAuctions.com]. Retired the oldest one I have for spare. This one is powering accessories and constant power for switches. Speaking of switches, got another MTH switch acting up. Got to figure this one out.

Congrats Mikey. Got Grandson [first] and it is great. John F can tell you about Grandkids [he's got several. Wife anounced yesterday that daughter, SIL and Grandson are going to Hawaii for the Christmas and New Years weeks. I immediately called her and chewed her out. Claimed the only time they could get tickets. Think it is a SIL thing. :curse:

Have a good one.

Hah, they got fooled. Yesterday only reached 113 with 5% humidity. They've even lowered the expectiations for tomorrow to be only 117. They're also saying there's a 10% chance of rain for this weekend, although when it gets this hot, frequently the rain evaporates before it hits the ground.

Yeah, you're gunna find that not having the grandkids around over the holidays isn't the greatest. One of our sons alternates holidays between here and Colorado where the FIL lives. Although the last time they did that, they got snowed in and only had a generator for power. Makes one appreciate the 70 degree winter days here.

Regardless, congratulations Mikey, grandkids are great.:thumb: :thumb:
