I am really excited about this. Time to start laying out part of the streets and buildings.
This is the container sorting facility. We dont sort the containers themselves here, we sort the contents and ship the stuff out per the customers order towards its final destination. Think of Fed Ex or a UPS sorting facility and you'll have the idea.
Enjoy!

Thanks on the comments. I have yet to pick a name or really do anything new. I hope to get some time soon to work on the layout. :)

:wave:Its been over a month since I have updated this thread. I have not been able to spend much time working on the layout, but I have had some time to do some late night building of another kind.

Here is the manufactures version:
Walthers Model Railroad Mall -- product information page for 243-401

Hope you enjoy my version of Drywell Ink Co.

It was changed to save space on the layout and to fit my needs.
The windows are supposed to look like, well messy with stuff on it. sign1

Thanks. The new camera I bought helps a little too. :)

The lights will work as well so that will help with details. I need to age the metal roof and dirty the tar paper roof and it will be just about done.

The trucks I bought at a reduced price. When I went to the LHS everything I got was other in the Walthers catalog on sale or it was reduced in the store. I guess he wanted to sell them off :)

Combat, things are looking good, I just have one question for you (aside from where did you get that much old atlas snap track?)

Have you computed the grades on your layout? I was just curious as a couple of them look rather steep. My dad built his first layout after 25yrs of building awesome craftsman & scratch models, only to discover that 7% grades were impossibly steep for anything except Mantua 2-6-6-2s and F units.

Thanks for the concern, the grades are ok. We have already done tests with many of our engines and they are doing great up the grades with no issues. The grades are running on average 3 to 4 % MAX!

The atlas track. Some of it we already had. Some we bought at a sale. :)

WOW, I have not posted anything in this thread in forever!!!

Well, here are some railfan pics and some other stuff I took pics of. The structure you see in the background is a custom built dam that is still under construction.

Enjoy!
