Good point, I'll be including some form of lift off back there that would allow me to reach the far back, as well as that long tunnel. I also might cut that double spur up there to a single spur to reduce the need to access the far corner.

Can someone refer me to an interesting industrial yard trackplan that will fit in a 2x8 - 2x8 area? The far left will be an urban industrial area, and I want something that is both visually appealing and usable.

A good way to plan an industrial switching section is to do it like the prototype. Pick out what type of industry you want to do and then pick up appropriate structure kits or bash them, and then lay out the sidings to fit the operation.

Regarding your question about automatic reversing circuits, Circutron makes it. Walthers carries them. The part number is 800-5400 for the standard unit, and 800-5401 for the one with an adjustable delay. The 5401 item is listed as on back order. According to their web site it is expected to be available July 4 2007, but you need to check back to make sure they have it. Walthers is dependant on the manufacturers production schedules.

Your plan to include a tourist railroad on a hill reminds me of the trouist train in Virginia City, Nv. It runs from Virginia City down the hill to Gold Hill, and returns. Interestingly, they do not use passenger cars. Instead, they use bay window cabooses that have been gutted and outfitted with benches around the perimeter. Riding in the bay window gives a great view of the right of way.

By the way, here is the link to Walthers www.walthers.com -- main page
