The rail traffic in my area is primarily coal consists and a freight consist every now and then. We have no passenger service at all in this area, so imagine my surprise when, on the way home the other night, I passed a train waiting near Larkspur for the clear signal that was brightly lit from one end to the other.

To my surprise, I saw passenger cars, a dining car and some I did not recognize, all with people in them...and then we reached the locomotives and it was the Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey circus train!

I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid! :cool:

I have never seen one,but what a sight it must be!I'd like to see something like that,sounds cool.

I can remember when...

.. the magazines were infatuated with "CIRCUS TRAINS"- do you remember? Man, that was painful for me- guys modeling a "special" train to be special!

Mark, you curmudgeon, some people just LIKE Circus trains. My father inlaw wasn't a railroad modeler but he often talked with fondness about circus trains arriving at his town when he was a kid. His idea of a vacation was a trip to Baraboo WI where the Wringling Bros museum is.

Got no probs...

...with a Circus- just the time when all the attention was about circus trains- seemed like it, BAD, BAD, BAD.

Like- I'm sorry- I couldn't care less but I love the '60's movie with Charlton Heston- What was the name of that movie??? Had Jimmy Stewart in it too.

You might be thinking of The Greatest Show On Earth, with Burt Lancaster, himself a former circus perfomer, which had a spectacular train crash in it?
