THANKS MARK! as to your question on #987, you are 100% correct:thumb: . E3-6 all look the same, they are my favorites of all the E units that are made in plastic:winki: , funny thing is, i haven't finished that engine yet:119: :eek:ops: . HONESTLY, my favorite of ALL the E units was the E2, but no one makes them in plastic, and i am sure they can be found in brass, but i haven't seen any:frowns: .

Ralph, Mark & CNWman, GREAT LOOKING F UNITS!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

THE only other F unit i have(besides B units:toug: ) is this CNW F7 i converted to commuter service:winki: . extras i added to achieve this: sunshades, above windshield grabs, windsheild wipers, firecracker antenna, external muffler(rear of roof), rotating beacon, "gong" type bell(where upper headlight was), MU socket(left side), and hoses(right side):winki: .

HEY FOLKS, sure we seem to be having a run on E & F units:mrgreen: , but you can post ANY of your cars, engines or work here:thumb: .

KEEP 'EM COMING FOLKS! :deano: -Deano

Very beautiful engines this week, guys. You gotta love those Es and Fs. Can’t tell which one I like the most.
I obey the "rules" for this week’s thread  and post a pic of my FT.

Well, since this weekend's theme seems to generally be E and F-units, let me offer the following.

In a scene set in the autumn of 1941 (that's always the case on my layout), HHRR consol #720 has taken the hole, giving way to the road's premier fast freight, today being headed-up by the newest piece of motive power on the property: E-3 #900, which sports the company's striking red, white and silver paint scheme.

OK, I'm bucking the trend just to make sure that anyone else out there who wants to post a pic doesn't feel compelled to stay with the F unit theme...although I love the F unit theme! :)

Here's a look at the opposite end of the spectrum train-wise...a pair of KP&W cabooses in the scheme I'm experimenting with. These are a couple of flea market cheapies that need some details but here's the basic look.

Here are a couple of my "F-units": EG&E FPA/FPB-4s on a passenger train through Lowbanks. The two are modified Model Power units, painted in a scheme similar to the old CNR freight scheme. Both units are powered and heavily ballasted, and will have no trouble with their 11 car train on this line's heavy grades.

Right! They do NOT have to be F or E units...or even locomotives at all!

I did however decide to post this old photo of my approximately 1:1 model of the interior of an F unit cab. I posted about this a few years ago. I put an MRC powerpack inside the cylindrical control stand and hooked it up mechanically to the throttle handle and the reverser so they really worked. An MRC sound unit provided synchronized engine "burbles" as the throttle was increased. The pull cord activated a continuous loop tape of a diesel horn. The engine brake was just for show but was hooked up to a can of compressed air that gave off a hiss whenever anyone moved the handle. The bell swith also activated a continuous loop bell sound.

Its not working right now as the old powerpack bit the dust and visiting children were a little harder on the brake and bell than I expected. I'm going to replace the power pack and redesign the brakes and bell to be studier for kids (and me!) to enjoy. Some day I hope to add a flat screen
TV that will pick up a mini video camera so engineers can actually get a view of what they are doing when handling the controls.
