I have a question I need help on. When I make a new post it doesn't show under the new post search, therefore no one replys to my questions. I'm posting here hoping someone will see it while drinking ice tea
What am I doing wrong

Ahh, but it does show up in the "new posts", it's just that since you posted it, you can't see it there anymore, but everyone else can.

Whenever you read a thread, it get's removed from the "new post" list for you until someone else posts something new there. If you post something new there, well, to you it isn't new anymore, so it doesn't show on your list.:mrgreen: :mrgreen:

It's all in the cookies...:wave:

On the old forum, if you looked at "new posts", all new unread posts would be in bold, and all new read posts would be in normal type. So if you read or just posted to a thread, it would still show in your "new post list". But, if you left the forum for even a short while, the "new post" list would reset as of the time you left. Now, as you read a post, that thread will no longer show in your "New Post" list, but it will on everyone else's. The difference now is that when you leave and come back, the posts that you haven't read yet still show on your new post list.

Now, if you want to see a list of all new posts in the last 24 hours, go to "Quick Links" and click on "Today's Posts". Unread threads will show up in bold, read ones in regular type.

I hope this helps solve the mystery of the missing threads.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

That's the answer regarding new posts! A beautiful morning in the Twin Cities; great for a local art fair we attended but its starting to cloud up and may rain soon...not so great for our neighbor's highschool graduation party. :(

Thanks Guys

I think I understand now how it works, doesn't make sense but I understand. You get so used to having links still show up, just change color that it threw me. The only other forum I post on is a yahoo forum for samoyed owners and it is just the different color links.
I joined the gauge just before the change and therefore I knew nothing about the previous version.
I do want to mention I do visit other Railroad forums (not a member) to see whats happening. All of you guys should pat yourselves on the back as you are quite polite, well informed, correct information tactfully when needed, and don't speculate on things you're not sure of.
That is what makes this forum so valuable to me.
Thanks again for the help

Thank you Charlie, we make a special effort to do these things, but it's not difficult because of the types of members we have here. Knowledgeable, friendly, willing to share and above all, just really darn nice to be around. bounce7bounce7

Yeah - believe it or not, most of the mods here are members of other forums, we trade information so that all can learn... And some can learn from our mistakes too :D :D

We do - as Ezdays said - respect and thank our members for helping us keep The Gauge a great place to gather information and just hang around.. :D

~~~~ Thanks !!!!
Hi everyone
Went to see Pirates of the Carabean 3 today, and it was a lot better than the seccond movie IMO. Then leraned that Davis Trains is closing for some reason (they were doing quite well last I went), and that a new store, DCCTrains, had oppened on Beechmont. The bad part? DCCTrains specializes in DCC ONLY apraently, and DCC is FAR out of my range! Their stock is small, but hey, they oppened last April, plus they aparently do Custom work in painting and products, so it may turn out alright.
Cheers
Remember...it's for fun!
Good to hear the movie review! Since I've taken time to see the first two Pirates films I feel the need to see the third. I didn't like the second very much really. A little heavy on the chase scenes and it seems to be the Hollywood formula to make everything go sour in the second film of a series of three.
Sunday night and racing toward Monday morning WAY too fast! :)
I didn't like the seccond movie much myself, it seemed focused on Elizabeth's love triangle more than the misadventures of Jack. As for your "formula", Ralph, it seems the critics think the third movie most often goes bad according to what's said about Spiderman 3 and Shrek 3, and look at the last two Matrix movies, those were total messes IMHO!
Historically - the "second" movie always does worse than the first.... The Third - depends on the series or story and fan base... If the second stunk - you lose the 3rd - unless the first was really really good.....
what they are talking about now, is that Spiderman, Shrek & Pirates "one" were all great movies.... And the second ones were "not as good" now thay have confirmed that Spidey 4 and Pirates 4 will be made.... -- It's all about the money....
Now - the exception to the rule..... Every other Star Trek (odd numbered) did worse than the one just before it... Wrath of Kahn was an exception to the "Second Movie Curse" - it did way better than "The Motion Picture"
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek: VII Generations
Star Trek: VIII First Contact
Star Trek: IX Insurrection
Star Trek: X Nemesis
Star Trek XI is due out X-mas 2008 - They hope by re-vitalizing the "Young Kirk, Spock & McCoy story" they can breath new life into the series..... We can only hope..........
Something else - if you're interested..... Always collect the First 2 issues of any comic book..... The printers don't print too many #2's.. because they aren't sure of the amount of buyers of the first issue... They print comics the month before they are on the stands..... So, issue 2 goes to press the month that the first issue is on the stands....
Then based on the First issue sales, they can gauge the third issue quantities during the second month....
So the Second issue is the rarest, and the first of course is collectible - "Just 'cause it's first"
Yeah - I agree - it was great :) :) Hope you stayed through the credits to see the surprise at the end :) :) :) really cool!!!! :D
3 hours is a long time to be in a movie though, (Counting 15 min of ads at the beginning). It didn't seem like it was 3 hours, because of the excitement of the movie... LOL
