I work a 9/80 schedule so this Friday is my off-friday. 4-day weekend, woot!

Friday I'll probably go out and railfan. Finally got a memory card for my HD camera so I can take pics while I'm filming. And do some layout work mostly.

Saturday is my wife and I's 1-year anniversary (1-yr married, 8-yrs together), so plans are to do whatever based on weather (possible rain all week). Dinner reservations at 6pm at the Melting Pot

Other than that, I mainly hope to finish my layout benchwork. That entails putting up the Level 2 trim coil backdrop, trimming it down, securing the "roof" level, and painting the backdrop a sky color so it's not so shiny, heh. 8)

Lighting ($$$) and Fascia (work) will come later on (see below).

I wanna get the benchwork done so I can get all the hardware and stuff put up to clean up the office little bit, get my G-Scale display up on the top shelf finally, and move on to working on building some structures I've got sitting in boxes. Give ye old wallet a break for a while. :)

Not much planned. Gunna take one morning and go trap shooting. Yeah, they consider it a sport, not a hobby, but it's about as expensive as a hobby, believe me ... I've started back on my scratchbuild challenge and so I think that should take some of my time, and I could spend some time laying around watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon.... Oh wait, that's that OTHER holiday:eek:ops: :eek:ops: ... sorry...  I guess that leave more time for trains then doesn't it??? :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Friday night, no plans - home with the wife and kids.
Saturday, have a graduation party to go to for one of my niece's.
Sunday, installing tile in the tub area of the upstairs bath (last thing to do in my gut remodel of the bath). Possibly go to Arlington Racetrack with the kids and watch the horses run a few races later in the day.
Monday, grout tile. No other plans. Most likely hang out around the house, grill out, drink a few adult beverages, etc. :-D

Starting with thursday evening, take the wife to work so I can pick her up friday morning ( I have friday off) and take her out for breakfast.Friday daytime do a little weathering on a new CSX  loco, putter with a few more locos, make the extention for the last 2TRAK corner module.Possibly do a little more work on "The Building",and do some putterin on the big home layout.

Saturday morning (hopefully) fire up the airbrush and get a few locos painted.Do some more putterin with the big home layout and maybe with the small one too.Saturday evening go to club and install the last corner module extention. Then start to plan just exactly where that darn ethanol distributor is going to be located and possible start laying track.

Sunday more loco paint work and hopefully more home layout progress.Somewhere in these 3 days i want to install MTL 2004 couplers on my new Bachmann ( CSX) B30-7 and document the whole thing for an online "How I did it" for anybody else who buys one of these sweet runnin little buggers.(I've allready done my ex Conrail B23.)

Monday, mostly vegatate and spend time chatting online.(Got to goof off at least one of those 4 days. )

I don't have any grand plans. My Father-in-Law goes in for multiple bypass surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) so I'm going to have to be helping him most of the weekend. At 83, he's a little self concious about asking my wife to help him do some of the basic things. Hopefully I can catch the Indy 500 and some more of the America's Cup elimination races. I have my brother coming down on Saturday, which I'm glad for. He's a little brother (little, he's about 25) and as much as we want to be close, things always seem to get in the way, so I'm looking forward to that.

I will be alone for parts of the weekend sooooo....
1. run trains.
2. work on trains.
3. repeat steps one and two.

I also need to mow the lawn, clean the side walk, and get a new battery for my 71 Fiat. My youngest grand daughter will be in town and it's time for her first ride.

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend!

In Canada, we had our big long weekend last weekend. We had lots of yard work to do (still recovering) and visiting. In the late-evenings, I got to my layout.

I must confess, though, that I'm finding it really hard to get to my layout now that the summer is more or less here. The evenings are longer, the kids are up later, there are more outdoor things to do such as yard work as well as leisure activities (hiking, visiting real-life heritage railways or railfanning...).

But with these long evenings and 'summer' events, it's often 10 or 11 pm by the time I get to my layout, and then I'm too tired to really enjoy it. I realize that this is simply how life is, and that it's not really a bad thing at all because I love the outdoors & the summer, etc. But I do kind of miss the long, dark, cold nights (and days) when I seemed to have more time for the layout. But I know they will return! Can anyone relate? It seems 'worse' this year for some reason!

Rob, I can relate to your feelings. I'm one of those who much prefers to be outdoors when the temperature reaches 70. On the other hand, being retired allows me to be outside quite a bit and still have time for the trains.

Best of both worlds, IMHO.

Thanks, Tom! Part of my situation is that we have a lot more happening in the evenings this time of the year (family activities, outdoor jobs) & it's often late-evening by the time things settle down. Cheers, Rob
