help, problems with editing posts

I was posting a new comment in the thread how bout a scale vehicle thread and when I posted it, it came as one bunch of txt and were I pressed enter to skip down to the next line, it deleted that and bunched it rite up against the line before. This is what it looked like before I submited the post:

Chessie, nice Overnite truck!!

Combat, i like those GI trucking and Consolidated Freightways pups!! I love the Athearn trucks, they have some nice details.

then I saw it on the page and it looking like this:

Chessie, nice Overnite truck!!Combat, i like those GI trucking and Consolidated Freightways pups!! I love the Athearn trucks, they have some nice details

there should have been a line space between Combat and the word truck!! So I clicked on the edit button thinking I could just change it but then it came up with this in the edit box:

(p)Chessie, nice Overnite truck!!Combat, i like those GI trucking and Consolidated Freightways pups!! I love the Athearn trucks, they have some nice details(/p)

now I know the(p) means paragraph. How come it won't let me make the space in between the lines truck!! and Combat like in the first thing I showed above?? Do I need to type in a (br) (break) at the end of the word truck? I am good with HTML code but I know most of the other users here are not familiar with code so I hope that is not what we have to do now to get spaces. I also cannot click on any of the tools in the toolbox (like bold, italic....) or the smiles. I hope this is just something that Peter is working on.

EDIT I just had to edit this post to make it look like how it looked when I was typing it. the brackets around the P and br are in place of the < and > as it would not let me put those because they are part of the HTML code

Hmm! I'm not sure what the problem was, but when I went to your post, in the "Edit" mode, I simply inserted the cursor after the double exclamation points, then double clicked on "Enter", which gave the two-line spacing between the sentences.

Btw, I'm not familiar with HTML, so I would guess that I'm not using it. HoT MeaLs?? :D:D

There's an icon in the upper right corner of the composition (and edit) window. Click on it to change editor modes. I think that's causing your problems. One mode shows HTML, the other shows wysiwyg....

HTML = Hyper Text Markup Language, the basis for all coding on the Internet. When you see stuff in brackets "[]", that's some HTML code instructions...

hhmmmm, i see the button you are talking about but I cant click it. I can't click on any of that stuff in the toolbox (bold, center align, font size, color...) or any of the smilies and when I click on the more button for the smiles it links me back to the page to post a comment.

As a temporary fix would you like to try copying and pasting the text you wrote in the first post in this thread and paste it in the scale vehicles thread? I see yours is the last post in that thread in photography.

I think I fixed it in that thread, i just did some HTML code like I have been doing in this thread, its a pain in the butt lol I have to do all these tags (p) and (br) (member the brackets are in place of the < and >) in place of what I would normally just press enter lol

ya me to, thanks for the help
I'm at a loss. I checked your setting and you have wysiwyg selected. You should be able to select all of those buttons including the "editor mode" one. I reset your profile, take another look and see if that doesn't make a change. If not, go to your browser and reset your cookies and possibly your cache as well, and try again.

You're welcome. There had to be something unique with your setup, either your profile, your cookies or your cache. Either that or you got one of the computer gods upset.
