Weird.
I let it sit overnight and it seems to be OK now.
It still has a little motor whine but that high pitched screetching that sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard is gone.

I guess it just had to sit and soak up it's oil bath. :?

Were you able to get the covers off that cover the gear boxes over each drive trucks? See any dirt- grease or whatever- if you got the covers off look at the tops of the covers, the side that is facing the gear and see if it has worn marks in it. I think Jesso has got you going in the right direction for a fix. Keep us posted, You will get it fixed, just keep trying.

I got the covers off and oiled the gears. I didn't notice any rubbing on the bottoms of the covers but I wasn't really looking last night either.

And as I posted in my last post, it seems to be fine now.
Strange little engine.

Well you could have put the dog outside if you did not get it fixed-
Then you could have got ear plugs for youself.LOL

I could have just given the loco to the dog and let her chew it up as well. :D
