Another thread in one of the forums is titled "The reason I love this hobby". It caught my eye when I browsed thru just now and I thought I might share a thought. At our church's Men's group monthly breakfast this morning, I salvaged the cardboard tube that came from the 36" wide roll of vinyl table covering that we use. Someone asked "Why?" I told them that it would make great grain silos for my model railroad. Immediately, I was inundated with the scale, how big is the room, era, etc questions. But then one of the guys told us that his wife had told him to "get a hobby" (he has been retired for a little more than a year) and he took up G-scale trains. He wants to see the layout and learn about operation, etc, which I had never considered as a part of this mens group discussions or ministry.

Our hobby and interests are the same as a lot of other people. And those people are just as anxious to find someone else that talks the language and can provide information just as we were when we first started. From a church prospective - we call it fellowship. Just like the Gauge. That is why I love this hobby:)
