I'm turning out to be a right slow learner when it comes to computers.
My question is:how come some posts are kinda off to the side and you can't see the whole thing?
I know what your gonna say ,just run it sideways with the little arrows at the bottom. Well I have little arrows at the side but not at the bottom.
There used to be arrows at the bottom but not any more
H'come?

I can't answer yours, but I have another question to go with it. On the "old" Gauge, when I logged in and hit NEW POSTS, it would also say 21 new posts, or whatever. Now it shows umpty-ump pages and hundreds of entries. Howcum?

Just because, that's why... No, what is happening is that on the old Gauge, there was a set time that you had before a thread would automatically be treated as "read" and would disappear from you "new posts" list. Now, if you don't read them, they stay there forever. Your best bet is when you've read all the new threads that you're interested in, then to go to the "forum" page (click on "forum" in the upper right corner), then in the middle of the page, click on "mark forums read". The next time you go to the "new posts" page, you will get only those new posts since you did that. One other thing, you can go to your user CP and under "options", you can select forums that you don't want to appear in your "new posts" list.

It's a matter of resolution. If you screen resolution is too low, the entire page will not fit on your screen and you will have to scroll left and right to read it all. Your browser is the one that puts those arrows at the bottom of your screen to allow you to scroll. We do not control that. You could change screen resolution in Windows, if your monitor can accommodate it, but then everything will be smaller if you do. I've got a 19" LCD screen and my resolution is set for 1280 x 1064 and I don't have to scroll left and right, only up and down.

Oh yeah!

Don, Relic and I are in the same boat, slow on this new fangled electronic stuff. I found the "forum" and clicked on it, but I couldn't find a "mark forums read" anywhere, much less the center of the page. Did I miss something?

PS Another question. What is the difference between post reply and quick reply?

I guess this is a part two to my question: how come only some of the threads are off to the side, almost all of Dr Wayne's are off to the right. If it's on my end why aren't they all like that{or not?}
By the way thanks for the answer to part one, I actually understood that,

Dr Wayne tends to post many pictures and replies that are helpfull. But if you are on dial up or have a small screen that can be slow viewing! LOL

Also some people do not scale down the size of the pictures, so that can make you have to scroll right. such as this thread, http://forum.zealot.com/t117610/

Quick reply is meant to be....quick. It saves you clicking to the regular reply screen (which has many more features in it). So, if you don't need to use the features in the regular reply page, and want to save yourself the time clicking to that screen, just use quick reply.

I wasn't dissing Dr. Wayne, just used him as an example because it happens that I always ckeck out his threads. Wasn't a complaint anyway just a "how come it does this?"

Part of the problem here is my ignorance of how stuff appears to others. I started out on dial-up (and still posted lots of pictures, once I figured out how to do it);-) but it is easy to forget that there are lots of you out there that are still on dial-up. The other thing, a picture like the one in David's link appears in full on my screen, with no need to scroll sideways to see it. So, when I post a picture (okay, lots of pictures :eek:ops: ) and they all look "normal" on my screen, I'm not really aware that it causes a viewing problem for others.
If it's any consolation, and it probably won't be,:) I recently placed a photo in the Gallery, as a test. (this area is not yet available to the general membership, as it's still a work in progress.) I followed my normal procedure, which was to take an image from a cd, directly to the Gallery, with no re-sizing. When I clicked on the thumbnail of the newly place image, I got a FULL-SIZE image, which required two full screen heights and over 2 1/2 screen widths to view, which helps to explain why that area is still "a work in progress".:rolleyes: :lol:
