Indeed they are.. !!!

PLEASE..everyone..we need to REGULATE ...SIZE here!! So we can keep the pictures flowing, what is a visual site without visuals?

NO more than lets say 1000 x 1000 pixels... If you do not know it you can use whatever but plain old PAINT from windows will resize and do the job!

and I am not referring to or pointing the finger at last pix.. which is 1320+ wide...x 720h but it is ONLY 149k in file size! you can get a 1000 x 1000 pix that is 3 times that in memory! If you push the quality settings to 100% when you save it!! Drop the quality setting to 80% and the files will be the same in pixel size and file size and NOT visually different!!!
For example...
tutorial image 1475 x 754 ONLY 67k !!!
if reduced to 1000 pixels would still look the ame and really be small in file size!!!

A brilliant idea, I personally have set my camera to capture "medium" quality, pics are about 2MB, which I then re-size in good 'ole MS paint by 50% before posting. It leaves a pic that's approx 1MB. I think that is big enough & still capture the details.

Not that we want to go the route of other forums that basically only allow thumbnails... (not mentioning any names ;))

I agree. When I joined the forum I had read somewhere that a picture size of 800 x 600 pix was the best compromise between file size and "watchability". I still resize my pics according to that rule. Now with the advances in web technology I think that larger pictures are more "up-to-date" but I do not see any sense in posting build pics that only show a small WIP step but which are 6 MB big. This causes the page to load slower and it eats up precious high speed volume people with a metered connection desperately need. This is extremely upsetting because if you are at low speed you won't be able to enjoy updates on your favourite threads because of the long loading times; timeouts might prevent the image from loading completely, too.

So a max 1000 x 1000 pix should be the rule, at least for the time being.

Due to the issues with the picture hosting function on this site, there is a limit max of 1000 x 1000 pix for pics. This will help with maintaining the a balance between having decent pics to look at and being able to limit the number of times that the IT guys have to add more memory to the servers. So please be certain to edit your photos to fit within these parameters.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this, please feel free to contact one of the administrators or moderators through "private messaging". We will be more than willing to help you with this.

I have amended the Rules & Policies, stating this very same thing.

I always resized my photos giving to myself the rule to keep about 1000 pixels - or, at least, not too much more than this - for the longest side.
I already noticed that, when looking at a post with many big photos, the page takes a lot to load.
I think this is a good rule and I'll follow it strictly from now on.

Thanks one more time to our administrators for the big amount of energy they always spend to keep this forum alive. :)

Tonino,

I would love to see both of your projects when you are able to show them to us.

Tonino,

I'm not sure about what you mean. Are you talking about the two projects that are in my signature? Well, all the work I've done with both them was regularly showed in the threads linked to the signature itself.
The only photos you didn't see here at Zealot are the ones showing the builds that are still in my mind... would be nice if we could take a photo of them too... :)

Yes that's what I'm talking about. Will check them out. Thanks.
