A beta build of AXM's new Falcon block 5

Alfonso at AXM was generous enough to let me try his new block 5 beta version. The fairing in this build may not be the fairing on the actual first block 5 flight and the Octaweb design may vary as well. I think you will find the new details in this model as impressive as I did especially the details on the 2.0 legs and new enlarged second stage/interstage. A link to the final model will be posted when it becomes available. Thanks again to AXM.

While waiting for some of my larger parts to take shape I took a crack at some of the detail parts. Most of these are the familiar parts from previous versions of the Falcon rocket with new bits of detail and color.

Here are the grid fins with a new splash of color and the new leg 2.0.

The new leg design is similar to the old with a few noticeable differences. Lot of new details and color. The small triangles for the sides of the legs are missing (not sure of their actual name) I added a shot from the block 4 leg for comparison.

Here's what got done today. Finished the main booster and interstage and stage 2.

Finished the speedway and some of the other details. Also started the new fairing 2.0 like the new details.

Attached the speedway and the titanium grid fins and a few other details.

Didn't get as far as I thought I would today. Finished building the leg attachments but haven't attached the legs yet. If you are not a fan of small parts I recommend using the optional parts.

I fully understand how tedious those kind of components can be. I am always glad to see builders go that extra step in building a model with the detailed parts.
