Let's all raise our challeses (of ambrosia) and propose a toast and extend congratulations to @Sky Seeker for making the BSG Defender. :Drinks::toast:
He has done a STELLAR JOB on this model. With the time, effort, energy and work that he has put into this model, it has set the bar to how this ship should look.
KUDO TO @Sky Seeker ON A FINE JOB WELL DONE!!!

Thanks Z! Right now she's parked in the Space bay (the Library) next to the original Galactica.

Getting ready to focus on the Vorchan!

You have a model of that? This I have to see!!! :)

Z - There are no paper models of the Vorchan (at least none that I'm aware of) so I have to do it from scratch. I've been looking at images of this ship for months now thinking of different approaches while working on other models. Also, I've been rewatching the Babylon 5 series again from start to finish. There are so many models to do from transport ships to the more interesting battleships. Lepaj of course is the master of Babylon 5 anything in the paper genre.

Also, the Narn transport has caught my eye as well.

I think you would find great interest in these. I too agree that "Lepaj" has set the bar. He is a member here, and an extremely nice person. ;)

Took about 10 minutes to find a 3d model, convert it and here is the result in Pep...( with out any work at all) and It can use some! but it is a start! ( note: this was an open use file)
Image1.jpg
I will keep looking for a better mesh to work with..but any one that wants this one message me!

Never mind...already found one closing down the search window... this is WAY better file..but will take considerably MORE work to get to paper craft format..and since it is someone else's file..permission will have to be sought! If you have the ability? then http://www.scorpiocgi.co.uk/1333#prettyPhoto you can get the lightwave file and get started on your own...
Image2.jpg
it does have all the textures and such..this is just the color version of a Centauri Vorchan...

Yes absolutely I would like this mesh (it certainly is a start). I probably should get a lightwave viewer or editor. Any recommendations?

I have sent an email, please wait for the response, this content is , the FREE content, is allowed for non commercial use. Extrapolating a model from it, would be quite a significant change from the original mesh and would require some major changes. As this company did not create the original models for the series, their hold on anything is questionable. We cannot, as of yet, host their meshes, but they can be used, per their forum, just not hosted, or used commercially. That means you can use the mesh, just read their Website, it's the pay for content that is another issue, this stuff is free. :).

I understand..I just like to always ask before I take someone else's work to use for my own or other's projects, and of course the model would be labeled as being from the original mesh of ******* who ever I got it from...free or not...I still like to ask/let folks know what I intend to do with their stuff... and of course that is why I only dropped the link there ... :)

I did have a few minute just now to play with the better file and ...
Image3.jpg
so will see...

archived the FREE version into Vorchan.rar and it includes .3ds and .obj a .mtl files as I had already converted it from a .x file...uploading to resource now....

Gandolf,

I did get this to work in pepakura, but it did take a little bit of time to get to a point where you can look at the model. There's a LOT of data points to this model so when you rotate it it is kind of stu-tter-y. Maybe the resolution could be reduced or sections could be cut out to lower the number of meshes.

Also, I've seen versions where the wing gun assemblies aren't shown in detail you just have the tip of the guns showing with a flat black background nearly flush with the 4 raised / spaced strut sections along the wings.

Anyway, we should probably start another thread on this to keep all of the Vorchan / B5 related stuff together.

Gandolf,

The pdo file is VERY smooth and easy to work with! I've created a new thread for the build here:

Thanks again for your help!
