I wanna try the LM...

Here is the docking target: a very nice little jewel.

DSC07138.JPG
The parts ready for assembly. The little green circle is my adding, just to give more 3D emphasis to the part No.329b that seemed too flat without it.
As always I cut the black triangles to give air to the little "trident".

Very very nice little thing!

Here is how they saw it in the periscope.

The real one...

...and mine!

I just wanted it to be there, where you see it, now I'm happy :)

That part of the docking maneuver would have really had me "nervous' if I had to do that in space. I wonder what would have happened if they were off and bent it a bit? Looks great Tonino!!

Another little beauty I couldn't miss.
The ALSEP fuel cask.

I continue cutting away all the black triangles I find on my path... the result this time is very nice. But that piece now is REALLY weak!
DSC07139.JPG

I forgot to take a picture of the cask prior to mount it, sorry. I couldn't wait to see it in place.
DSC07149.JPG DSC07150.JPG DSC07153.JPG
Nice huh? And, as I was working in this spot, I placed also the little ALSEP door that I left in the box to prevent damages to the tiny hinges.

And now I can place the bigger ALSEP door too. Now this corner is complete!

A little update... Now the work is rapidly going toward its conclusion.
I'm somewhat sad about finishing this adventure, it's like reaching the last chapter of a big, beautiful book.

DSC07156.JPG
The plume deflectors and their struts. Another hard cutting work... (I'm talking about struts obviously)

DSC07157.JPG
Unfortunately one of the struts points too outward and finishes ahead of RCS cone.
This way it should deflect nothing, cannot leave it so oriented.
Bending is not possible: the struts make their work very well and doesn't move at all.

DSC07158.JPG
The only way is to cut in two points and glue again in the correct position (excuse the bad photo).

Eventually all deflectors are in place, more or less...
DSC07160.JPG

DSC07163.JPG
Even with the ascent stage in place is clear that all RCS's are going to... spit in the right spot :muted: (how can I say things like that?)

DSC07165.JPG
Here are the handrail and a little handle to help astronaut's descent

DSC07167.JPG DSC07168.JPG
And this is done too...

DSC07169.JPG
I wasn't sure to add that little support on the right.
It is a component of the outer shell and it shouldn't be here.
But I didn't like the handrail to finish in the air without any support so I placed that piece there to keep the rail fixed to something.

And... like @DanBKing said earlier in this thread THIS IS MY MODEL... so I can do anything I want with it! ;)

Now I'm going to place the LAST piece: EVA antenna... but... I don't like it. Too flat. Too "2D"
I cannot finish with a piece like it.
I've something in my mind... I'll let you know more in next post...:)

See you SOON!!!!!

Can't wait to see this baby finished!:)
You have something very special before you now......'The End!';)
But, only the end of the build!

From there on in, you have something to admire, you and everybody else! Because of your additions and extra care, the model is UNIQUE in the world. There is only ONE like it!
A masterpiece! :King:

I have loved following this thread.
If anyone else decides to do this model, well, your thread is the 'Mother of all to follow!'

Thanks Dan, you're a friend!
A great part of the joy of building this great model was in the appreciation I 've found here at Zealot.
I don't know if I would have arrived here so (relatively) fast (considering my usual building time) without your support and great encouragement.
Thanks to all of you who followed my work. Thanks a lot, really. You are a big part of this achievement.

And now back to my very last touches...

Before going to EVA antenna I realized I wanted another little thing that, without exterior skin, I would have missed: the plate with the signature of the three astronauts.
I've found a photo on the web and reduced it to a dimension little enough to stay between two of the steps, as in the real LM.

DSC07182.JPG DSC07196.JPG
And with the plate we have done...

Now back to the antenna:
This is the original piece compared to my personal version of the same particular

DSC07177.JPG

By the way: I'm gonna to place this custom part (along with MESA details and the plate) in a new revision of my LM custom part file (already in resource section).
I'm gonna ask UHU02 if it's OK for him to have this pieces shared before adding those details so please wait a little to check: I'll let you know when the file is updated.

And now the antenna assembly:

DSC07171.JPG DSC07172.JPG DSC07173.JPG DSC07176.JPG
The little "cone cage" is the most challenging part (just for its tiny dimensions). Just use very thin tweezers and a lot of care...

DSC07183.JPGnlmeleven.jpg
The antenna next to the flat version. And the real one. Nice upgrade! :)

DSC07185.JPG
Just a little tab to keep the base of the antenna in the right spot (it should be placed on the outer skin, here isn't any surface to which the antenna can be glued).

DSC07186.JPG DSC07194.JPG
And this was really the last piece of the model... so now... it's finished! ... ... ... ... I speak with very little voice because it's not time for celebration yet: I want to take some good photo (as soon as I have the sun up again... tomorrow) and then I'll place here the real FINAL POST...!!!! so stay tuned...

in the meanwhile I place my baby in the showcase with my other creatures (which I'm so proud of...:):):)) waiting to find a proper arrangement for my new masterpiece!

see you tomorrow!!!!

Thank you guys, you are too kind! WOW Zathros! That's a great new! I'm not sure my LM deserves it (really Dan!) but this is a great honour.
As I said somewhere to Zathros before... building the model was only half the joy, the other half is the appreciation I received here at Zealot.
I assure you that in my past modeling activity, as I didn't use to post in any forum or community, the "stops" and "meditating pauses" was the standard... Sometimes the pauses turned to permanent quitting of a project... This is the reason for I have so many unfinished models still waiting to be completed. Here I found the energy I needed to keep working straight to the final goal.

This is the reason for, I think, this achievement is half by me and half by Zealot community itself

I hope I was able to explain myself, sometimes is not easy for me to find the right words.

Thanks Zealot!

I think the 50/50 odds are unfair! ;)
More like 10% us, kicking yer butt along, and the 90% being you, the executor/finalizer that put a beauty model together.
You take more credit than us. Point! :)
I'm sure I can speak for all here; the quality of your work, adds quality to this forum. So, from Zealot, Thank YOU! :):King:
