YEAH! ...the furniture...
That's going to be hard to do, even in 1/35 scale. It's all vintage 60's and 70's egg shapes and rounded corners; the most difficult things to accomplish with paper.
The furniture that comes with the kit is way off and will have to be scratch built but there are things you can do with Squadron Green putty that you just can't do with paper. I likely won't do any furniture for this study model but for the eventual paper kit I want to do, I'm going to have to. The desks and tables won't be a problem but the chairs and couches are going to kick my butt! I'll come up with something, I'm certain.

I would really like to design an armature like the wooden one next to the model, but in paper. Make it in different scales, or in set scales. It would add much. I have to get off my butt, I can't wait till the next 4 weeks go buy, and I can relax! :)

It seems to me I've seen some decent armatures done in paper, oh mighty administrator; I'll see if I can find them and post links here. Hope the next month flies by for you. This is the first real work I've been able to do in years and being able to share it here really keeps it going. This is an EXCELLENT forum and I'm proud to be part of it! Thanks again for all of the links, likes, comments and support. I've got duties elsewhere until Tuesday but I'll be posting more on this by then at the very least.

Best,
Ian

I may be the administrator, but I m not mighty, you guys are. Really. We have a collection of mature people who stay focused, are caring and share, and never fight. What else could anyone ask for? I didn't do that. I'm just one of you, so I guess that makes us all MIGHTY!! :)

I noticed that... I've been a member since 2014 and haven't run into unkind word on this forum. THAT is unprecedented in my experience and most impressive. The best thing IMHO is that you guys are really GOOD at what you do. All of you. I don't always have time to do this and have had to be away for weeks sometimes but whenever I look in on you; I'm never disappointed. Wish the rest of my life was this good.

Okay,

I've managed to add the rest of the walls in the control room and I think I'm going to have to go over my templates with a microscope because there were some alignment problems. Not too concerned at this point but it's certainly inspiring to take my time on the scratch build.

Haven't had time to work on the stairs up to the mezzanine but I did a test fitting (going to need to trim it down a bit; I'm rubbish at boxes) and took a photo with a couple of the posts in place. Looking pretty good. After the mezzanine floor is installed I can work on the wall area behind it. This wasn't included at all in the R2/MPC kit and I'm looking forward to fleshing it all out.

It really looks like a miniature set. It reminds me of the little mock-up ("shoe box" ;) ) sets made for Star Wars. :)

EDIT: However, this one is far more sophisticated.

Question: In many scenes of the show you can see a yellow-orange lighting behind the walls. Will you incorporate that as well?
