Default Linear Train Track [unlooped]

Is this doable? Looking to get as close to the wall as possible.

I was thinking of setting up an 8 or 12 foot wall
mount shelving track. Basically a straight line[unlooped]
where the train toggles back and forth.

I asked my local dealer if this was ever invented and he
said yes. There was some type of device which put
the train[s] in an alternating forward and reverse movement.
He also said when he had it, it cost about $50. and there
was little call for it. He thinks it was discontinued.

If this is no good then what would be the tightest turn
you can make in a looped track. Someone in the forum
said they have a 13" wide board. What would be smallest
amount of turn space using flexible track for N scale.

I am toying with the idea of stacked tracks for multiple trains
going simultaniously.

Thanks

Raw

Hello Raw, and welcome to the gauge.
Modelex in the Uk do a reversing modules for around $25, don't know if they have a website or not.
You can get away with an 18" wide board to turn N-scale around on.

Rawman -
Have you ever read the book "Small, Smart & Practical" (or something like that) by Iain Rice? It has some pretty cool ideas for shelf layouts.
Kalmbach publishes it.

Rawman,

Maybe these links will be helpful:

www.nscaledivision.com sells Kato Series 500 "Nozomi" and TGV sets:
http://www.nscaledivision.com/kato_japanese.htm
http://www.nscaledivision.com/kato_european.htm

I don't know if both engines are powered, though...

Thanks so much gents. You've given me some great ideas
for a wall length shelf mount "point-to-point" railway.

I checked out Kato and like very much their Bullet set.
Also, when I get tired of the bullets I can switch to
the trolly type trains. [the pushmepullyou's]

Quickie. Has anyone seen or used the Reversing
unit from Berkshire and if so are there any bugs or
drawbacks to using this unit?

Thanks

Wink

The other's beat me to it! I saw your question Rawman and couldn't answer at work. They did forget one to look for GREENMAX, they've done some bullet stuff in N. It's just they have no "english" catalogs or website.
But they do have nice stuff, the buildings are real nice. They have trolley kits also.
Heres their addy:

MUCH LUCK!!
Ken

On the side I'm part way throught repainting my Sud TGV, to my lines colors.
