Default Fiddlers Green B-17 "Memphis Belle"

Another Flying Fiddlers Green bird

This time a FG B-17. I decided to make her a F Version without the chin and cheek turrets and in the oliv drab paintscheme. As a fan of the movie Memphis Belle it was only natural to model that bird. The FG "large" plans were printed to A3 Paper format so further enlarged to 149%. The equipment used is again Kyosho Minium brick and 4 each motors/gear units with the stock Cessna Props. i`m flying with a single cell 300mAh Lipo.
The "brick" is maxed out on this one and performance is marginal ... so actually scale but she flies really nice and smooth! In retrospect i would build it next only from the large plans on A4 paper rather than enlarging it to A3.

Wingspan 98cm / 37in
All up weight 85g / 3oz

video of her maiden fligth without colours and wheels in our hangar can be found here:

Beautiful stuff! Looks wonderful in the air and has a much more believable scale speed than most RC stuff.

That does look much more like scale speed. The fourth picture above looks just like an airfield in the English countryside. Got any outside video of her?

Great stuff!!

That`s easy you just lay the cut out foam piece on top of the template and the panel lines shine thru.. one thing however the panel lines don`t exactly match all teh times in FG models and also due to teh higher thickness of the foam, a lot of mismatches happen.. so don`t expect your panellines to line up exactly..

Best bet on panel lines is wait and do them after painting with a pencil and flexible straight edge useing a good 3-view showing panel lines. Then a coat of sealant/lacquer and your good to go.

Amazing... you gave a very nice idea to use foam for making a flyer. I did try making a flyer a few years back, it crashed even before it could take off
