Default last night when I got home from work......

Thought I'd post this here:

Scanner call on 9-16-08 -- NS tracks - just North of Chester PA

5:01 -- Train going over grade crossing - Instead of 2 long 1 short 1 long.. all he got was the one long... when the engineer hit the second - the horn Stuck OPEN!!!

5:02 - He's stopped within a half mile from my house, i'm thinking of calling 911

5:02:30 - Scanner: first 911 call - Locomotive, NS - horn is continously sounding

5:05 --- STILL BLOWING!!!!

5:07 -- First Officer arrives on scene (Calls in "Away from vehicle")

5:10 -- HORN STOPS Blowing........

5:11 - Scanner: Ok - - we got it - my hammer was bigger than the Engineer's hammer - It was stuck open - .... not anymore.....

Now THAT's Funny!!!!!

The engine was pointing toward a hospital too. I bet they LOVED that!!!!

At the Smiths Falls Choclate & Railway (great combo! ) festival two years ago, they had two CPR units (don't know which, I'm a steam guy ) sitting on the wye at the end of the yard. You could climb into the cab, and they allowed little kids (and not so little ) to blow the horn... The wye is right across the street from a bunch of houses, and Canadian regulations I believe call for 110 dB or more...

This year, no horn blowing allowed...
