I'm rather fuzzy on what has been changed despite reading the actual changes.

2 key features i see right off that will be very usefull is being able edit the 3d model and reloaded without redoing the unfold process over and over, and the over flow paint that extends the texture onto the flaps.

Being able to edit te 3D mesh and not have to re-do the unfolding is something I would use ... but you can already bleed the textures over onto the flaps in the current version. The effect is a bit messy, since it is literally just smearing the texture ( it has no actual texture to use, so there is no option really ) but it does ensure the flap is not white and glaring if it can be seen at the join.

Haven't looked at actually upgrading yet... but I might if it proves to be stable and bugless for 3DS import.

Got the new Viewer and have to say they've thought a lot about the user-friendliness of the software. If before you want to locate an unfolded part on a complex model, then... good luck. With the new version everything becomes transparent and you can see the part in question immediately. --Hey it's the small things that count!

Woah...I didn't notice that before...

"available at $10 for those who bought Pepakura 2 AFTER 1st AUGUST 2008....."

So..if like me, you bought the software a few months before and paid in full, you have to completely pay in full again. At $10 for the new functions I would give it a try. At $38, it is more than I would pay for the new features, and Pep 2 is not that bad after all!

That is NOT what the site says:

"Pepakura Designer 3 is a shareware product, the shareware fee is US$38.
(If you have a licence for Pepakura Designer 2, you can upgrade to Ver.3 for US$10. We offer a free upgrade licence if you bought Pepakura Designer 2 after August 1, 2008.)"

As long as you have a license for Pepakura Designer 2, it only costs US$10 to upgrade. (I bought it 2 days before August 1, 2008, so it's gonna cost me $10, too. UGH!)

Well, $10 isn't that much for an upgrade. The designer's time is worth something after all. I'd rather pay someone to get something done than wait around and wish for someone to make something free for me.

It's not a lot if you use it often.
