I remember when i was younger and used to watch the steam engines shunt in the local yards I would now like to buy a similar engine but dont remember what type of engine they might have been.Mid 50's Canadian Pacific Steam locomotive with tender used for shunting duties in the Montreal area, any one familiar with type of engine i should be looking for? Thanks

See if you can find Omer Lavallee's book Canadian Pacific Steam Locomotives.
This will show you all the locos you could want, and probably shows the switchers in Montreal. (I never saw big city switching, and our town was switched by whatever was on the local freight: usually 10-wheelers or Pacifics, but once a Royal Hudson.) Biggest problem will be actually finding models of them.
