rice glue

I found a recipe for making rice glue, I read it is used a lot for Japanese paper craft & for making kanzashi (traditional Japanese hair ornaments).

I was wondering if anyone has used it & how it performs as a glue or even a protective coating?

I have now found a few recipes, some are complex some are simple, I don't know if different brews give you different qualities.

I made some Teka Maki from scratch, and threw a rice ball, around the diameter of a nickel at my girlfriend, it really stuck onto her forehead!
