Default B-24 "The Dragon and His Tail"

I've never been a big fan of B-24's, but I promised myself that I'd have to build at least one, IF someone ever designed at cardmodel of this famous "Highly Decorated" aircraft.

Well, about a year ago, a designer and friend, John Dell did just that!! I think that this was the prototype/Beta build for this particular model, but I'm not positive of that. Either way here are a couple of picts of the finished model as well as a diorama I did using a mixture of other card models on a wooden base that I added some "grass" and the edge of a tarmac.

I got a message telling me I'd reached my limit of picts so I'll post the diorama picts on the next message.

Default B-24 Diorama

This diorama was created using mostly card models. The jeep is plastic, because at the time I couldn't find a good cardmodel. Since I did the diorama, a good one has been designed..... The engine hoist is an old coat hanger and some scrap pieces from the scrap box...

The bomb cart comes with some of the the John Dell B-24 models

The people are from various models.

My dioramas only last for a couple of days, after I take the pictures and enjoy the layout, everything goes back to various boxes, shelves, storage where ever I find some room. I have no dioramas sitting around, not enough room to keep them setup.

Thanks for looking,
Swampfox

Your dioramas are incredible! You take the models way over the top, and AirDave's accessory vehicles are top notch. They add much to the whole scene. I would love to have some of these big enough to use as background screens on my computer, as I am sure many others would. Great work!! You should put links to were you got all this stuff from. I know Chris would appreciate it, as would AirDave, (His work is topnotch!

Thanks Zathros, I will get together the info on the links for these Airfield accessories.

As for AirDave, heck, don't loose any sleep over his attitude, in the world of the web/internet we're all just a bunch of electrons. One click of a button and we're all gone Like you said, he does good work that I can use. Thanks AirDave;-P

I'll make that post about the Airfield diorama accessories later today.

Really excellent looking builds swampfoxx. I just added that B299 to my list of kits to build. The B24 was already on it

I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

Default J-3 in water

One of the things I like to do is photograph my models, take the image an place it in a "real world" environment using either Photoshop or Bryce, sometimes both.

Here is my FG J-3 with pontoons sitting on a table.

And here it is 'sitting' in the water using Bryce software.

No, the Mercury models don't have the interior as far as I know. His Gemini series, at least one of them does have the interior....

Swampfox, the reality is that I think you being a lot more to the models than you may nor may not realize. I have seen people build the same ones and they look like they rolled in a rough landing!

Thanks Zathros, I know that I don't venture too far from the FG models and I been given some flak over it.

I've also seen a lot of comments about how poorly they are designed and that they don't go together right....... I don't get it, maybe my standards are set too low for some of the "highbrows" that show up in these forums. But I think that if you take the time and try to do the best you can with even the more basic designs, you can build a decent model from a FG kit.

I wonder if they are as good as the think they are if they can't even build a "simple" FG design.

I'll just keep doing what I like to do and if others are inspired, great. If not, that's fine too.

Send me you email address in a P.M., and I'll send you a FREE model that will probably have you never spend a dime on a model again. It is not pirated either. Homey don't play dat! Also, check out the FREE ESKA Ekranoplan in our Downloads Section. It's just plane rare and you'll only get it here!
