Here is my entry in the Free Model #4 contest. This is one of many downloads from YMjr Paper Model. Their kits are simple in construction but are loaded with detail. You can find them here (http://www.ymjr.cz/mclarenm8down).

I finished some of the cockpit. Fit was ok but some trimming was necessary.

Had a few hours today so I added a few more detail parts and finished up the steering.

Added nose pieces and engine block. Used chrome paper for stacks.

The chrome seems to give it an oomph :D Neat!

Looking really cool.. I also love the chrome effect on the exhaust headers.
One thing I've noticed and this is just an observation.
Rivets. Often in the paper models they are pronounced 'real easy to see'. I know that in the 'real world' they would be easy to see from any angle and as the model is to be seen from all angles presumably they should be as such. It however seems to take away a dimensional effect from the model. Kind of making them look like there 'painted' on. Might a suggest a different approach. Toning down the rivets so they are hard to see 'blending them in' or giving them dimension by not showing the entire rivet. So the rivet has a 'shadow'. I know that this would in turn give them an angle of incidence 'light source' but also a 3D look?
Could be a bit of micro managing a model design but go a way to giving a 2D object a 3D look..
