I thought the help system was installed when you installed Gimp. On my system
the help files are in:

Program Files/GIMP-2.0/share/gimp/2.0/help/en

The help system is a whole bunch of html files with associated images.

They arent in mine??? You click help and it says you havent downloaded the help file, etc.......I found the file but they dont give a clue on where it goes. I'm sure if i tried putting it in every file and keep clicking help it will eventually work, but i thought i would ask here first?

I'm a serious GIMP user - but I've never really used the help files.

OhioMike, I suggest re-installing Gimp. Maybe you need to specify that you want to install the help files as one of the installation options.

I tried re-installing it and the latest version doesnt have the help file. When i download it seperately and place it in the various files it still doesnt recognize it???? There is the online help file that you cant download that will be of some help.... Why not just a simple PDF to download???

Because the GIMP help is context sensitive - needs to have access points in many sections. I checked on Sourceforge - here's the process for Windows...

Now if we can just get someone, Yoda like, to write up a Gimp tutorial?????

I started on one a while back, but then realized that I wouldn't have the time to do the stuff I really wanted to do with GIMP if I did... like the website and redrawing work I've been doing. I don't know if the tutorials got reposted on the new website here or not...
