No!!!! Never clean a coin. It'll ruin its value.
The dirt can be washed off, but don't scrub, and don't use chemicals.

When you clean a coin, it's obvious to numismatists (coin collectors) and is labled a "cleaned" coin. So don't use any solvents on it. If you are willing to take the chance on cleaning it but don't want that "cleaned" look, try rubbing it gently with a little olive oil and a cotton cloth. Sometimes that will get a coin looking better without it looking "cleaned," but not always.

I wouldn't clean it, but if you must, use lemon juice. It works fabulously.
