N-scale from inches to feet

Im making an N-scale layout. I need to know what the inches in N-scale are to what feet are. Can someone please tell me? Thanks,

Just convert you full-scale measurement into inches, and divide by 160. Your answer is in real life N scale inches.

For example, a 40 foot boxcar would be 480 inches. Divide that by 160 you get 3 inches.

12 inches equals 1 foot, at least it did before we went metric. :D

160 N Scale Feet = 1 real Foot
13.33 N Scale Feet = 1 real Inch

I am having to learn all this new stuff, as I change from HO planning to N Scale planning for my new layout.

I could not get much in a 5x11.5' alcove in HO.
But can get the entire branch line from Cheltenham to Orangeville in an "M" format layout in N Scale.

Unit Conversion's -- I cheat

Axistek has an application for these types of calculations
called the

" Unit Conversion Tool v.1.53 "

sample it, and see if it is useful for you.
